I remember the conversation I had with my parents that day like it's happened yesterday. I don't know why my mind chose to remember it, sometimes I wish it didn't. But I can't change it now, can I?

Cue the night falling and our not so shining star finally making it to Vegas, he found himself wandering around a casino to chill out. He was searching for his parents and asking people who worked at each one if they saw the two. He knew their full names like the back of his hand, and how they didn't match him at all. Sometimes he thinks he's adopted because of it, but he knows that he isn't. His parents never wanted him in the first place, why would they want to adopt a kid they didn't need?

Eventually the boy had stumbled into the right casino. He didn't know that it was the one he was looking for quite yet, but he still had made the right guess. He walked around and maneuvered through the slot machines and blackjack tables. Bright led lights flashed in his face left and right, and eventually he saw it. Upon a poker table there were two large adults. One standing at 7'3" tall, broad shoulders, muscular build, slicked back brown hair with a singular streak of blonde, and a smaller woman with dark red curly hair, an hourglass figure, green eyes, and standing beside the man at 6'1". It was them.

Alex stood a few tables away and stared at them. They hadn't seen him yet. He glared at them, their greedy money-craving filled faces staring excitedly down at the card game they were playing. They were gambling quite a bit of money. Why were they being so irresponsible? He kept his stare directly at the two figures until they eventually stopped. It took a while for them to.

They started walking in his direction, unaware he was even there. They didn't recognize him at all. He stared at them as they passed. His father bumped into him.

"Hey! Watch it kid!" He barked aggressively. Definitely not friendly towards children. Alex stared him the eyes and spoke. "Dad?" The man froze, as did his wife. "How the fuck did you get here." The man growled, his tone soaked in bitter venom. He glared straight into Alex's soul. His mom hid behind the man, scared of him and the fact that Alex had come back.

"I can survive on my own. I wanna talk." Alex answered. He wanted to be blunt with his answers. "You came all this way just to talk?! So fucking stupid.." His dad hissed with toxicity drowning his tone. Alex went to speak as he originally wanted, but his dad cut him off before he even started.

"Get the fuck out of my face." His dad said in a firm tone. "Hey hey, maybe we should let him talk?" His mom had stepped in and spoke. The large man looked down at the woman. She was a big person as well, but he was just that massive that she looked tiny compared to him. Alex looked around nervously. Gray people with crosses on their face intermingled with normal humans, swarming throughout the casino. His gaze snapped back up to his dad's ashy gray eyes.

"Fine. We can talk. But not for long." His dad said begrudgingly. He clearly didn't want to but he was sort of forced to. Alex felt a little more relieved inside, but also a little anxious. "I wanna know what happened the day you two left. Why did you take off without me?"

His dad went quiet. He looked pissed to say the least, like someone had just pissed in his cheerios. His mom spoke. "We couldn't find you, so we went off to look." She said in her most convincing tone. It didn't sound very legit however. "I was right behind you guys when you took off!" The boy spoke out with an increasingly more upset tone. "How were we supposed to know? The trunk was full-!" The woman said.

The more she spoke the less convincing she got. It was painful to see someone try and lie like this because it's obvious. Telling the truth at this rate would end up being less excruciating. Alex folded his arms and stared his mom dead in the eyes. "Tell me the truth, lady." He said with a calm yet also angered voice.

"Don't you speak to your god damn mother like that-" His father said, but this time Alex cut him off. "She is not a fucking mother. And you aren't a father either! The two of you didn't fuckin' raise me at all, and you left me to die. Maybe when you learn how to stop being children you can call yourselves parents!" He said. His rage was now brimming and flowing through his veins like a river. He was so close to harming someone, whether it be himself or someone else.

"How dare you come all the way to Las motherfuckin' Vegas just to call us immature, and say we're bad parents. You're alive aren't you?!" His dad said. He was about ready to punch something, you could see it in his narrowed eyes. "You left me on my own when I was 11, I cam clearly survive on my own. You're not proving anything!" Alex said with a hateful voice. He glared into his dad's soul. But then the man shut up. It caught the boy off guard, especially when his mom spoke instead.

"I raised you, I fucking made you, and you have the audacity to say I'm a bad mother? If it weren't for me even thinking of you, you wouldn't exist-" His mother was about to finish. But Alex had enough, he clenched his fist and yelled at the woman, "MAYBE I DON'T WANT TO EXIST! MAYBE, JUST MAYBE I WANTED YOU TO NOT THINK OF ME! EVER THINK OF THAT?!" He huffed after letting those words ring out. The casino around him got oddly quiet as people stared.

So many people, far too many to count. All of them laid their eyes upon the three. The reunited family. But maybe it would've been better if they hadn't met tonight. Or at all. Things could've gone better today if it weren't for this interaction, but no, Alex needed his answers he so desperately craved.

"I'm going to ask one more time. Why did you leave me?"

His voice trembled as he repeated himself. He was much quieter. He seemed to have gotten smaller, his rage fading and his misery taking over. His sleep deprived and traumatized eyes still staring up at his parents. "Please.. That's all I want to know." He said again. He felt like he was about to cry, to break down, to shut the world around him out and only focus on the horrible thoughts and memories that played on repeat like a broken VHS in his mind.

"We couldn't handle you. There. You happy?" His father said. His mom was too scared to tell the truth and it showed. The boy went quiet. In fact everything got quiet. The casino was filled with people, yet none of them laughed amongst each other. None of them moved. They all stayed stationary in their chairs and their spots at the gambling machines and games. Staring. This was one hell of a sight to see..

"No. I'm far from happy. But I am satisfied." Alex said. His voice was already starting to break. He wasn't in his right mind at all. He stared down at the ground and quietly made his way out of the casino, weaving through people. They felt bad for him, a few even asked him if he's alright. He didn't answer. But before he had gone too far, he stopped. The boy turned around and stared at his parents. They were watching him leave.

He yelled in their direction loud enough for them to hear.

"Damn you both, I hope you rot in hell like the demons you are!"

And with that he made his escape out of the casino. He regretted his decision. He regretted everything. He regretted even staying up on his feet for the four whole years between being abandoned and today. He wanted this to end. He wanted to end it himself if things weren't going to end by themself. He ultimately decided that he should let things cool down before he made any stupid decisions.
