Dear Princess Serafina,

You have been selected, along with two other girls, to partake in Prince Alexander's selection ball. For one month, you'll be engaged in several activities with his Royal highness until the evening of the ball. On that evening, the prince will decide who his future queen is going to be. You won't be needing any clothing or jewelry, because that is going to be provided to you.

The reason for the entire process to take one month is so that his Royal highness can spend one week with each young lady in order to make his choice. You'll be spending the final week with him, the week leading up to the ball. The list of activities that you and your fellow debutantes will be engaging in is described in the next paragraph. You must be informed, however, that his Royal highness is 18 years of age. He might be young, but he is very mature for his years .

Here are a few activities that you and your fellow ladies will be doing with the prince. You'll be taking chaperoned horseback rides through the countryside, as well as partake in archery. Strolls through the garden are also expected.

Your highness, you'll be arriving to Windsor Castle tomorrow evening, and are going to be introduced to Prince Alexander upon your arrival.

Yours,
George Hamilton, chief gentleman to the prince

Serafina ran her fingertips across the paper, reading the letter for the third time that day. She couldn't believe it, couldn't believe it at all. She was one of the three young ladies who had been chosen by prince Alexander to partake in his selection. For one month. She smiled to herself, visualizing the prints as quite the handsome young gentleman. She was excited to be at Windsor Castle, ecstatic to be with Alexander for one whole week. She wasn't sure if she was going to be his chosen queen, but she was hopeful.

Glancing up at her mother, Serafina smiled brightly. "Can you believe  this?"

Bernadette was beaming from ear to ear, her eyes sparkling like vibrant blue gemstones. She brought her first and eldest daughter against her chest. "My dear Serafina, I was hoping this day would arrive for you! I was wanting nothing more than for you to be happy."

Serafina rested her head against her mothers shoulder. She knew exactly what her mother meant by that. Her father hadn't exactly been warm and loving to her or her younger sister Caroline. The two of them had been the only girls of the family, with three older brothers who took up all of their fathers time and energy. At least they had each other and their mother to love and spoil. But she knew this was going to be the chance of a lifetime for her. She had just turned 18 a week prior to receiving the letter, and she was ready for whatever life had to offer.

Bernadette came away from her daughter, snapping her fingers and producing a crystal glass filled with unicorn blood. She smiled softly, pushing it towards her daughter. "I believe you'll need this for tomorrow my dear. You do look a little pale today."

Serafina took the glass from her mother, drinking the sweet blood slowly. She knew that her family were a very powerful pure blood vampire family. She was from the house of York, and would be spending a month in Windsor castle, with yet another powerful pure blood vampire family. Prince Alexander was from the house of Windsor, and would become king of England on his 21st birthday. She swallowed another mouth full of blood, her heart pounding with excitement and nervousness.

Bernadette glanced over the letter from George once again. "You don't need to bring anything with you it seems. I'm glad all you'll need is going to be provided to you."

Serafina put down her glass. "I am grateful for that as well, that way I don't have to bring anything with me. I'm anxious to see how my gowns and jewelry are going to be put together."

Bernadette squeezed her hand. "I know everything is going to be put together to your liking my love. You are beautiful, and your beauty is going to be reflected with every piece of clothing that you wear. Now, I suggest you go to bed. You have quite the day ahead of you tomorrow."

Serafina smiled at her mother, giving her a tight squeeze before rising from the dining table and making her way upstairs. She was exhausted, both from the excitement of what was to come the following day, and from spending that entire day out with Caroline. Entering her chamber, she was helped by one of the female  servants into a clean white nightgown and climbed into bed. Closing her eyes, she fell into the land of dreams, those dreams becoming invaded by the glittering celebration that she knew was around the corner.
