"Why are you crying?" I asked in a teasing manner.
Oren blinks his teary eyes. "Onions. Onions hurt my eyes."
Since the event from two days ago, Oren volunteered to help cook so that he will have the right to complain. We start on the basics. Like frying eggs and whatever he can fry. So for two days, we only eat food rich in cholesterol.
And now we're going to cook sinigang and I assigned him to slice the ingredients. Oh, it looks like he's not having fun.
A laugh left my mouth as he rubbed his eyes using the same hand he used to hold the onion as he sliced it. He gave me a perplexed look and it took a second before he grunted as I assumed he already felt the burning.
"My eyes!" Oren cries.
He ran to the faucet and splash water on his face but I know it will only add to the burning. I laugh more before helping him. I told him not to touch his eyes so I washed him with my hand. After that, I made him sit on the high chair while I rubbed him with a face towel.
I was already rubbing it on his hair that got wet when he just threw water on him when my eyes found an interesting view. The freckles under his eyes together with his red nose make him cute.
I was confident to freely stare because his eyes were closed but he suddenly opened them. My body did a little shriek before continuing to rub his head.
He caught me!
My cheeks were red because I could feel his eyes gazing at me. It's so intense!
I look at him so he'll stop but don't so I glare.
"What?"
Oren stares more before saying, "have I ever told you, you're beautiful?"
I was rooted at my place when those words just came out of his mouth. And why used his baritone voice? It's making me see him differently without his whiny tone.
It was as if he's a man.
"Done?" In a deep voice, he asked again.
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Yeah, you okay now?"
I immediately turned my back and did what we had undone. An eye on my back still gave a hard stare but to ignore it is the only way. He already made it awkward. Damn him.
"You know it's gonna happen." He's back again to being annoying.
I don't think I'll feel good he'll be all complaining again but well, I don't like his you're beautiful sides either. It only happens now and I hope for no more. It makes me feel things I shouldn't.
I face him, trying to hide a mischievous smile. "I didn't."
"You did!"
My defences faltered and I burst into laughter. "So what? It's not like you're gonna die from it."
He argued with me a little more and I didn't back down. Whilst that, we continue cooking. But Oren swore to never be one meter near the onion again. Amid our lunch, the picture of what happened earlier crosses my mind, and I can't help but chuckle lightly.
Oren glowered at me. "Stop laughing, Chocolate."
"Why not?"
"Because there's nothing to laugh at."
I calm myself down. I might push some buttons if I keep going. "Okay, okay, how about I'll treat you ice cream?"
"I don't eat sweets."
My brow rose. "Yeah? But you stole donuts." Note the sarcasm, please.
"I just forgot to pay!" Oren hissed, darting the piece of chicken with a fork as if it did something bad to him. "Stupid media."
"But it's your manager that spread the news."
Oren scoffed. "Oh, don't you know? That guy has been stabbing me from the back. He was paid by one of the guys that were born with excessive insecurity to spy and spread fake news."
That piques my interest. "For real? What's the worst thing he has ever done?"
"The shit told my parents that I was out of the country just to get laid and what makes it worse is there's a rumour saying that I'm dating a famous actress while banging someone else. You see? He made me look like I was cheating!"
I heard about that one. It was on the headline because Oren is famous for being a rebel. Though his agency made it clear that he wasn't out of the country, that issue did a little damage to their image.
"Where were you then? Why didn't you take immediate action?"
"I was in my penthouse! I was having a high fever!" He's so pissed he grabbed the glass of water and drank it right away.
A chuckled escapes my mouth. "Oh, so you're a one-woman type of man?" Where did that question even come from?
Oren raised a brow at me. "I never had a woman."
Huh? "Just girls?"
"How did you pass ASVAB again?"
This guy—
"Don't you know the difference between a girl and a woman?" I asked in annoyance.
"Of course, I do, duh." Oren flipped an imaginary hair. "What I mean is, when I said I never had a woman, it also means all kinds of your creatures."
"You've been single since birth and all those news are fake?" Shocks.
"Yep," he answers nonchalantly.
Is this for real? The great Oren fucking Blair is never been in a relationship?
"So… no kiss for you?" I'm curious!
Oren gave me a questioning look but still answered. "I'm a virgin if that's what you're trying to ask."
I gasped before grabbing my glass of water and drinking it straight. A word popped into my mind.
There are only three reasons why a guy is single: first is, he's busy with his life, second is he's reserving himself for someone and the last is—
"You're gay?"
His eyes widened. "Geez, sweet cheeks." Then he laughed. "I do not do what a normal man does in this age but I'm not, 'kay?
X the number three. Definitely not the two because he said he never had a woman.
"Then why?... You're busy with your life?"
Oren sighed and looked at the food as if thinking something deep. "I'm not… but the woman I want is still not ready."
