After lions, the most recognizable characters in The Lion King franchise are Timon and Pumbaa, the dynamic duo who bring hilarious moments to the plot. They became so well known that Disney decided to make a television series with them as protagonists and, later, the movie The Lion King 1 1/2 where the background of these two characters is deepened, especially in Timón's, and their less epic version of the first film is narrated.
But really not much data from the past of either of the two is provided. And fans of the franchise are far more interested in the lions than Simba's background friends. Finding both canon and fancanon data is practically impossible, since there are few who dare to investigate this topic and speculate about what could have happened even before the events that the last tape of the saga tells us.
Based on this, I have decided to write this little story.
At first it was going to be included in the One Shots series of my original fic, but I realized that as I wrote it, the plot built up on its own and it would become too long to be just a One Shot. I decided that it needed to have its own section to unfold freely and create a more enjoyable story.
The story will mainly focus on my version of Timon's life, and aims to explain what happened to him and Pumbaa during their visit to the Hakuna Matata jungle during Chapter 4: Family of my main fic, Lian's Story. It is not necessary to have read the fic to understand this story, since it is quite separate from Simba and the other lions.
In case you haven't read the fanfic, all you need to know is that it is a Universe where Kopa, Kiara and Kion exist (with Kopa being the older brother, and Kiara and Kion being littermates); semi-canon characters like Tojo, Malka, and Mheetu; and my OC Lian, Simba's younger sister (and thus another of Timon and Pumbaa's "adopted children"). Shortly before Zira attacks Kopa, and a couple of days after Kiara and Kion's birth, Ma and Uncle Max ask Timon to visit his family, with the excuse that the meerkat colony wants to know more about his new way of life. Reluctantly, Timon agrees to go and so our story begins.
