"Mother please hang on" prince Yuric begged as he held his mother's hand, tears streaming down his young and kind face.
"The sands of my Sandglass had stopped pouring " Queen Dasury looked at her children, two sons that grew up to be mighty rulers just like their father , and a daughter that bloomed just like the most beautiful lily. " my time in this world is done"
Yuric sniffed, knowing his mother is now barely clinging to life. He wiped the tears that traced warm , damp strokes on his cheek with the back of his hand.
Turning to his siblings he said " Mira, I'd like you to stay with mother as I and Enro fetch the Bishop"
Princess Mira knodded at the command, her own tears sparkling on the borders of her tired eyes, her droppy gazes weakly stared at her brothers.
Prince Enro followed Yuric as he make his exit out his mother's bedroom.
Their footsteps clunked dully, bouncing off the tall walls of the castle, as they make their way down the dungeons where the Bishop is.
"she- she is leaving us" Enro muttered behind him. Clutching his jaw fighting his own tears.
Yuric turned to his brother to look at him. Enro is the youngest among the siblings yet he acts as the strongest. He was keen at bottling up his emotions, never letting anyone know his pain, never wanting anyone to carry his load for him. Yuric was thankful for him for thinking of their sake, but he wished he didn't. He wished Enro would let them help him. He wished he never had to keep his emotions and problems to himself like he did. A wound in the heart is much more damaging and painful than the wound in the flesh.
" you think so?" He asked numb. Turning his back to him. Not wanting to recieve Enro's answer in the face. Afraid that he would break if he did.
" I do" Enro said. His voice firm yet low. " but I want to believe I am wrong"
Yuric closed his eyes. He does too. " you are of no knowledge how much I have wished likewise , how much I am willing to give to make it true"
He stopped on his steps. A small wooden door sat in front of him. A room near the dungeons at the base of the castle greeted them , Yuric looked at Enro that looked back at him. His features were rock hard, but his eyes rather quivered.
"go on" Enro whispered. Flicking his chin up to point at the door with it.
Yuric let out a slow agonizing breath before raising his hand to the door's wooden surface. His knuckles hit the door sharply making thin loud knocks.
The door opened slowly , creaking like cracking bones pressed by heavy weight.
A man, small and slender appeared, his beard-grey like storm clouds hanged down his chin like a goat's, a long silken robe draped down his figure.
"prince Yuric, prince Enro" the man bowed .
"Athon" Enro replied. Bowing his own head.
"Bishop Athon, I require your presence in my Mother's bedroom. To…… "
Yuric bit his lip as his chest cumpled. "To bless my mother"
Athon's eyes widened , he looked at Yuric questioningly, and then to Enro in the same manner " is the queen-?"
"languishing " Enro answered. "yes"
Athon visibly tightened his fist " after you my royals" his voice firm and strong.
Yuric turned around haistily and made his way towards the stairs, climbing up to the queen's bedroom. His cape fluttering behind him.
