Chapter 15: Why is everything pain?

Matthew's pov:

I walked away to see my father in an hospital bed, he waved at me to come in. He looked very sick. Even though we fight a lot but he's still my father...

Dad: Hi son...Come here.

He patted the bed, I sat on it watching smile at me. Like if he was proud of me, it felt great.

Dad: Son, I love you and I am proud of you. It takes courage to break up with the women you love.

Me: How do you know I love her?

Dad: You don't look at her the same way you looked at the others. And he took some times to realize it son but she loves you too.

I though about what he just said...if my father noticed it, it means that when I broke up with her she was in love with me...Meaning I hurt her. Thoughts were running through my head, how could I hurt her? I promised I wouldn't. 

Dad: Is your mother around?

I looked around but she wasn't there.

Me: No she's not...

Dad: Come closer.

I camer closer to him as he putted his hand on my shoulder.

Dad: Son I made a terrible mistake telling you to leave her. I didn't realized you were in love...She is a great girl. She has opinions, she's smart and she's really pretty. You got lucky founding a girl like that and she got lucky founding you. Go for it son. I am proud of you. I love you son.

As he ended his sentence I heard the cardioscope making a single sound meaning his heart stopped beating. His hand left my shoulder. The doctors arrived in the room checking his pulse. Nothing. They forgot to tell me to leave. They used the defibrillator trying to make his heart beat again. As they tried for the forth time, the doctor looked his watch and declared "time of death 11:34p.m.". I broke into tears. 

Me *whispering*: I love you too dad..

My mom came to me crying. I was too sad to stay there next to my unalived father so I got out of the room greeted by Austin's hug.

Austin: I'm sorry man. I'm sorry. 

Me *crying*: I know...I know...

Austin: Hey man I gotta tell you something...

Me *crying*: What is it? What's going on Austin? 

He had tears in his eyes.

Austin: Maya's here...

Me *crying*: She came to see me...?

Austin: No Matthew she...she passed out.

I started panicking, my dad just died and my girl...I mean ex girlfriend is in the hospital.

Me *crying*: Where is she?

Austin: she's down the hall, room 231...

I ran as fast as I can but a nurse stopped me cause I wasn't family she guided me back to the waiting room. Where I found Hailee crying.

Hailee's pov:

I saw Matthew and ran to hug him. His mom told me about his father. Poor Matthew. As much as I was sad for him I couldn't help but thinking about Maya...

Matthew *crying*: What happened Hailee? What happened? Why is she there?

Me *stuttering*: Well...

*flashback*

Maya *stuttering*: No...I didn't...I wasn't hungry...

Me: Maya...How are you really feeling?

Maya: I'm...uh good...
