Kind Words (Toge Inumaki)

Chapter Two

A few weeks later the four of us were walking to class, I was talking with Toge in the back while Maki and Panda led us to the classroom.

"Hey, did you guys hear about the new transfer student starting today? Apparently he crammed four of his classmates into a locker," Panda said.

"Nope, but then again I don't pay attention when Gojo speaks anyway," I said, putting my arms behind my head.

"He killed them?" Maki asked.

"Tuna Mayo," Toge said.

"Nope, word is they only suffered severe injuries," Panda continued, I hummed in acknowledgement.

"Hmph, if he's cocky I'll rough him up," Maki said.

"Bonito flakes," Toge said.

"Hey, why do you get dibs?! Maki, that's so not fair!" I said.

"You know you'll just end up killing them, right?" Toge said through our connection link.

"You too! This is the ultimate betrayal. Panda you're my new partner, mines accusing me of attempted murder!" I cried, climbing up Panda's back.

"Bonito Flakes!" Toge yelled in protest.

"Yes you did, you liar!" I fake cried. Panda just laughed at me letting me hang over his shoulder. When we arrived in the classroom I plopped in my seat pouting.

"You can't ignore me forever, Satsu," Toge said. I continued to ignore him while pouting with my arms crossed. Maybe I couldn't, but I sure as hell can try. Over the past few weeks Toge and I have been on several missions together because we're the only ones who can take them without the supervision of Gojo, so we're pretty much a package deal at this point. "We're partners Satsu, you're my best friend, I hate when you ignore me," Toge said. I felt myself blush and my eyes widened, I turned away from him.

"Fine, I forgive you," I muttered. Then Gojo busted through the door.

"Transfer student incoming! Let's get this party started...?" He yelled, Panda was the only one paying attention, Maki was staring at the door, Toge was spacing out staring at the board, and I was face down on the desk trying to get rid of my blush.

"I hear he's quite the punk. As for being nice to the guy. No thanks," Maki said.

"Yeah, I don't care much for people who stuff their classmates into one storage locker. Kinda off putting," I said, only lifting my head up to rest my chin on the desk.

"Salmon," Toge said.

"Well, whatever," Gojo said. "Come on in!"

The door opened to reveal a boy who had dark bags under his eyes, and nearly black hair, "Hi, I'm Yuta Okkotsu, nice to meet you," he said, but that wasn't the thing that made me shoot up from my seat and throw one end of my blood red chain scythe at him. He had a powerful curse, but not the way I did. It was attached to him like a parasite. Maki stood and slammed her spear into the wall next to his head.

"Is this some sort of test? Hey, don't you know you're cursed?" Maki asked. "This is a place to learn about curses. Not a place for people who are cursed!"

"Nationally the average number of unexplained deaths and missing persons exceeds 10,000 annually, the majority are results of negative energy that flows out of people. The result of a curse. There are also cases that are the result of evil curse users. You have to fight curses with curses. Here, we learn about curses in order to exorcise curses. This is Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu high school," Gojo said.

"Wait, you're only telling him this now?!" I asked in disbelief.

"Oh, I'd step away if I were you guys," Gojo said, and then the curse revealed itself. I pushed the others back and stopped the curse from moving with my eyes.

"H-how did you?" Yuta asked. I jumped away as soon as the others made it to safety letting the curse manifest itself. I pressed my hand into my eye and Toge handed me my eye drops. I could barely hold that curse back for a few seconds, just who was this kid.

"You didn't need to do that, we would've been fine," Toge said.

"I know, but I couldn't risk it, Toge," I said, putting two drops in my eye, blinking frantically.

"So that's all it is. He's cursed by Rika, the girl who looooves him! This is Yuta Okkotsu! Everyone get along okay. Attacking Yuta may or may not activate Rika's curse. Anyway, just be careful." Dad (Gojo) said. "They're going through a rebellious phase, so I'll make some quick introductions, okay? Cursed tool user Maki Zen'in, she uses special tools to exorcise curses. Cursed speech user Toge Inumaki, his vocabulary is limited to rice ball ingredients, but if you ask Satsuki she might tell you what he means."

"Kelp," Toge said.

"Moving on, that's Panda," Dad said

"I'm Panda nice to meet you," Panda said

"And finally, Curse Vessel and my beautiful daughter, Satsuki Kendo-Gojo," Dad said.

"Sup," I said waving.

"So including you there are now five first-years. Our afternoon class will be conducted in pairs! As usual, Toge, Satsuki, and Panda will be a pair, and Maki and Yuta you'll pair up," Dad said.

"Doe-" Maki said. I snickered at her climbing onto Toge's back. He lifted me easily walking out to the cars.

"Um, looking forward to working with you," Yuta said.

"You were bullied, weren't you?" Maki asked, I looked from her to Yuta, my head resting on Toge's shoulder. Yuta looked terrified, Maki nailed it. "Thought so. I'd totally pick on you too. I wonder if it's because of the curse, but you act like a good person, but it feels fake. It's gross."

"Hey, Maki that's a bit harsh don't you-"

"No, Satsuki he disgusts me!" Maki yelled, interrupting me. I looked at her shocked, she'd never yelled at me. I shut my mouth and buried my face in Toge's shoulder

"Bonito flakes!" Toge yelled angrily at Maki. She ignored him.

"It's ok Toge," I said.

"No it's not! She can't just yell at you like that, you were just trying to calm her down!" he said. I had no response.

"I bet you've been passive your whole life, without any goals, Jujutsu high ain't that easy," She said.

"That's enough Maki," Panda said.

"Bonito flakes!" Toge yelled again.

"Fine, whatever," Maki said, she walked away faster than the rest of us, and I kept my mouth buried in Toge's shoulder watching the new guy talk to Panda about Maki's bad attitude.

"Mustard leaf?" Toge asked Yuta.

"Uhh..." Yuta looked at me, but I just stared at him. "Wh-what did he say?"

"He asked if you were ok," I said. Yuta nodded in thanks before shifting his attention to Toge.

"I'm fine. Besides she's not wrong," he said. I shrugged.

"Let's go Toge, Panda, we have curses to slaughter!" I said, pointing forward. Toge took off like a bullet while I laughed holding onto his shoulders tight. As we ran away I couldn't hear what Panda said in response to Yuta's next question.

"Are they dating?" Yuta asked, looking up at Panda in curiosity.

"You may not believe this, but no they aren't," Panda said.
