Hey batter, batter, hey batter, batter

Niggas know I had to swing, I had to make a play

I had to apply the pressure, 'cause you my hidden treasure

I think I'm falling in love

I pull my jersey up to show my midriff as the sun beats down on us. All the girls around me are smiling, but I could see the exhaustion on their faces. Coach made us get here early as hell and now we are suffering for it. A voice catches my attention and I glance down the field to see the boys football coach calling out to me.

"Hey, Brown! Come shows these ladies how it's properly done!"

"Yessir!"

I yell back towards him as I grab my deep navy blue helmet from off the ground. Jogging towards the boys was refreshing with the cool breeze sweeping down to the grass.

"What position do you need, Coach B?"

Coach B gives me a small smirk as he motions to the offensive line, pointing out the Wide Receiver and the Running Back. I glance at him as I put my helmet on, I thought they had a receiver. Jason Pivot, a to be D1 receiver.

"Pivot was injury last practice and tore his ACL on a nasty hit. Well Tones, our running back, suffered a ankle injury during lacrosse."

"Well...you have me." I glance towards all the boys and clap my hands to get there attention. "First, I'll show the WRs how the plays should be. A few of my own routes that I've made personally. Then the RBs, so watch closely."

Coach B blew his whistle and we all get into position. My grey eyes glare towards the guy in front of me, a cocky player by the name of Aaron Hedge, he plays the WR position as well. He always thinks a woman shouldn't be playing sports, especially football, but I always challenge him.

"A girl doesn't belong on this field."

"Forty-two!"

"You wanna know what happened to the last fucker that done said that?"

"Set!"

"What happened, little girl?"

"Hut!"

"This happened."

I launch off the ground with great momentum leaving Hedge stunned for a quick second. He's quick to run after me as I dart to the left of him, I let him get about an arm reach ahead before throwing my hand up for the ball.

Jordan, the QB, throws a pass straight to the end zone...right in front of me. Hedge is quick to jump up in front of me, but I jump up too. My hands reach up farther than his and I grab the ball securely in my hands.

My feet touch the ground and all I hear is the team going wild behind me. Glancing at Hedge I make sure to send a glare towards him.

"What happened, little boy?"

An almost animal like growl slips from him and he steps closer to me. My toxic trait kicks in and I walk right up to him, becoming chest to chest with the boy. Our helmets crash against each other as I swing my head into his. He stumbles back, then goes to rush towards me.

"Hedge! Get your ass over here!" Coach B yells out, making him sprint away from me.

"Never seen a girl play football like that. Out here looking like a professional."

I turn around to see the owner of the new voice, there stood Will Smith with a sixers jersey. He licks his lips as he looks me up and down, before landing on my face. Taking off my helmet I give him a kind smile.

"It's in my blood, my Pop's and Dad played pro ball."

"What are you doing over here with the boys, though?" He looks towards the girls that are running a play with Coach L watching over them.

"I help with both teams, I've played on both teams. Currently I'm on the female's football team roster.

"Oh damn! You really out here, huh? Gotta love a girl that goes all out, especially in sports." I roll my eyes slightly, but keep the smile on my lips.

"Boy, shush. I just gotta show all these rich kids how it's done."

"Your lucky I'm not there showing you how it's done."

"Aye, we both know you can't beat me. So don't get to cocky."

Will shakes his head and laughs at my words. I can't help but smile as I look towards him, placing my hand gently on his arm. He doesn't stop me from doing it as he collects himself. I could feel eyes on us, but I simply ignored it.

"So, I heard there was a pool party tonight. Pulling up, Gio?"

Now it was my turn to laugh at him. Did he not see the energy I was giving around Carlton and Spencer. One was an old fling well the other my ex boyfriend, well I can't blame him for not knowing.

"Hah! Will, baby, you're Carlton's cousin. My ex's best friend, as well as a very possessive ex fling. Please say you ain't trying to pull nothin'."

"Man, I wasn't asking you to be my girl or nothing. Just wondering if you were going to the party?" Will kisses his teeth at my words, before smiling.

"Maybe, just maybe." I smile towards Will and pat his arm, before pushing his head slightly. A habit I do to people, especially when I can't ruffle their hair.

"I gotta get goin though, so I'll see you later, Will." I wave at him as I jog back towards the boy, yelling towards Coach B.

"Okay, nice."

~~~
I load all my gear into the back of my skyline, only leaving my helmet out of the pile of dirty gear. Gently I close the trunk and make my way to the front, throwing my helmet on top of the dash. Angry muttering breaks me from my own reality and I look to see a angry Will.
"Aye!" Will looks towards me as I jog towards him. "What's up with you?"
"Do you think it's okay for this white ass wonder bread boy to say the n-word?" His words were harsh but I took no feeling into them, the feeling isn't aimed towards me.
"Conner?" Will nods his head. "Don't make me laugh. I done told him it's wrong, but there isn't no fixing him. Carlton always lets it slide, is that what he did?"
"Exactly! I don't get why Carlton so pressed when I told that white boy not to use it." Will lets out a low sigh and I place my hand on his arm in a comforting sense.
"Bel Air is way different from back home, trust me." I look towards the hills that Will is looking out, seeing the setting sun. "You'll get used to some things, but some things will throw you through a loop forever. You can't change everything."
Will goes to speak but loud, angry footsteps stop him. Both me and him look to see a pissed off Carlton heading our way. I roll my eyes as Carlton glares right at Will. Tapping Will, his attention moves from Carlton and onto me.
"Need a ride home, I live about half a mile away from the Banks?" Will smiles slightly, his pissy mood fading slightly.
"Show me the way."
"Of course, Mr. Will." With a blatantly bad English accent, Will and me both bust out laughing as we make it back to my car.
