I couldn't get what Charles said out of my head, he still thinks he has some amount of hold over me. It's the Austrian Grand Prix and we have arrived in time for media day tomorrow. I look over to my travel companion and he grins at me pulling me in for a gentle kiss. We have been staying together in Monaco since we decided to be together. It's been the best time, we have had movie nights, beach picnics, we have gone for drives along the costal road and just enjoyed each other. It's been really refreshing, he is light and fun. I look now at my previous relationship and see that there wasn't the joy that I have now. I just need to focus on being the team boss, I need to make sure that everyone knows who is in charge. Daniel pulls up at the track and I kiss him once more before I climb out of the car throwing my jacket on. We have decided to not hide our relationship but we aren't going to be overly affectionate in public, our relationship is ours and we want to keep that this way. "You ready?" He asks me "Absolutely" I put my Chanel over my shoulder and we walk towards the paddock gates together. I have a press conference with Toto and Christian today, at the RedBull ring and the team have an announcement to make, once which I'm very much going to enjoy making.
"Morning Mia" Max calls and jogs over towards the two of us just as Daniel takes a call "Morning! You ready for today?" I ask him as I can see some amount of apprehension in his features "I'm actually excited, its very you to announce it here" he jokes and I know that he is on my side through all of this "She has been talking about it all week" Daniel chips in walking closer "I need to get to the garage, see you later?" He asks and I nod "Can't wait, have a good day" He kisses the side of my head before jogging down the paddock. "You are both so cute" Max says in a silly voice "Oh shut up" I say with a roll of my eyes "Nah, I'm actually happy for you" He tells me and I know he is much happier now I'm with Daniel knowing that I'm happy again. We walk through the paddock and I get some looks from team members and visitors to the paddock "I also noticed that you are dripping in designer today, power move?" He questions "I still have to prove that I'm a good team principle, my gender plays more of a factor than it ever should!" He nods "I get it, this paddock is a very male dominated environment but here you are, leading the championship" I smile "And you actually helped design your own car for this season before you got promoted" he compliments. Lando and his new girlfriend Luisa walk towards us "Oh hey guys!" Max greets, I forget that he is good friends with the young Brit "Hey Max, Mia" he sends me a smile before introducing me to Luisa. She is stunning. We wish each other well for the weekend and the walk off but not before I overhear "She is with Daniel? But she is so intimidating" Luisa says to Lando "she is a softy underneath, she must be or Daniel wouldn't like her" I chuckle slightly, I'm definitely not the same person outside of work.
I walk into my garage and Ally is waiting for me, I have kept the announcement today on a need to know basis, the higher ups and Ally know but that's it. "Ready for today? We are going to have to fend off the media once you tell everyone in the press conference" she tells me with a serious expression "I'm more than ready, everything has been signed on the bottom line" she nods "I can see you have dressed for the occasion" she gestures to my outfit before taking a picture for socials "I try" I joke before we go into my office. I have a day of phone calls and engineering meetings before my conference at 5pm. "Morning Mia" Carlos greets "Good morning! Feeling good about the weekend?" I ask him and he grins "definitely, lets hope the car keeps on cooperating" He jokes and I shoo him out to get on with the media day. I wander out into the garage with my heels clacking on the floor getting everyone's attention. I like to do a pre-weekend talk with everyone and I call people over "Hello everyone, we have an important weekend ahead of us, but we have been the best team and I just hope that we an keep that up. I am announcing our 2023 driver line up in the press conference later today, it will be different from our current one, but I can't give you anymore information than that." People start talking "So til the end of the season this team doesn't change, we are leading the championship but we do need to keep this lead, we are strong and we can do this, lets go into this weekend with the winning mentality of the most successful F1 team in history, we are back where we belong lets make sure we stay there" People cheer and I know that these people are behind me. I head over and talk to Franny, who talks me through the set up changes that they are doing for this weekend.
4.30pm on the dot, Ally knocks on my office door "Time to go" she tells me and I can see that she is stressed "It's going to be okay, this is the best thing for the team, we are going to keep winning championships" She nods and we walks out of the garage together. I check my phone and see the Ally posted my photo from earlier with the captions "Our Team principle, with the best dress sense" I laugh and she smiles at me "Just wanted some support for you today, not everyone is going to be happy" I know but this isn't going to be the easiest day of my career.

I see Toto and Christian waiting outside the conference room "Hello Mia" Toto greets with a large smile and gives me a light hug "Hey! Nice to see you, how was Switzerland?" I ask and he smiles "Good, much needed! You? How was your time with the Vettels" he asks "Needed! I left with a much clearer head" He nods "And how is Daniel?" He says with suggestive eyebrows "He is great, we are great" He grins "I'm happy for you both" At this point Christian clears his throat "You and Daniel?" He asks "Hello Christian, and yes, me and Daniel" he frowns "I'm surprised you work, he is so full of life" I roll my eyes "He gets a very different side of me than the one that I show you" He scoffs "I see" I can't help but smirk, he doesn't know what's coming today. We are called in and I follow the two men in. I scan the crowd of reporters but I have no doubt that I'm ready to let everyone know. We sit through the usual questions with some digs thrown to myself and Toto from Christian which isn't surprising. Now is it "So Mia, we have been informed that you have finalised your 2023 driver line up?" Christian immediately snaps his eyes to me in shock "We have and I'm happy to announce that we are retaining Carlos Sainz for our long term future but he will have a new teammate" Everyone is starting to chatter "So you aren't keeping Charles Leclerc?" I shake my head "An opportunity came up and we have signed Max Verstappen for the long term future of Scuderia Ferrari and we are excited to have his impressive talent going forward to keep the team pushing" everyone in the room seems shocked but Toto has a smirk on his features "Christian, you weren't able to retain Max?" The interviewer queries "Ferrari are having a very strong season and Max decided that he wanted a new challenge" He tells him curtly "Mia I bet you are please to have him on board but what about the future of Leclerc?" He asks and I already know the answer "He will be offered a seat at Alfa Romeo, as our sister team we think that he will be a great addition alongside Bottas to keep that team moving upwards, they are already having a strong season so this can only be positive" He nods "He will have other offers, but we are hopeful that he will stay part of the Ferrari family" I say almost through gritted teeth.
