We were in a small train station outside of the place I call home. Living in the small town I've lived all my life, I smiled sadly about leaving. Looking at the lush trees and light breeze, this is the reason why I liked about this place. Still looking at the scenery, a cloud of dust obstructed my view. Coughing, I tried to shoo the dust away.
"Ouch!" Uh-oh. I must've hit someone while fanning the dust.
"S-sorry!" I said immediately, trying to apologize immediately. Then, a hand ruffled my short hair. Oh, it was him. Looking up, trying to see that person, I saw black hair. Yep, it was him. The dust cleared out and I could finally see him more clearly. Unkept black hair and kind brown eyes. Yep it was him.
"Haz, why did you do that?!?" I started fixing my now messed-up hair. Although he was older by several years, we were still close childhood friends. Combing back his own hair, he sighed.
"If I knew you were still here, I wouldn't be here." I looked at him angrily. Noticing this, he waved his hands and said, "I'm joking! I'm joking!!"
Controlling my anger, I turned away. "Hey! It was just a J-O-K-E!!" he said, spelling the words jokingly. Sighing, I turned around and looked at him straight in the eye. "W-what?" he asked surprised by my sudden seriousness. I beckoned him to come closer and he did. I whispered into his ear. A low whisper that only he could hear.
When I finished, he looked at me with a confused expression.
"A-are you sure about that?" he asked in a strained tone. I only smiled. Pulling my hand out of my jacket, I produced my hand.
"Hey, can you keep this promise?" I held my small stubby pinky out. He looked at me, then my outstretched pinky in doubt. He slowly sighed and brought out his own pinky and intertwined them together.
"Un!" He said happily, but a hint of tears damped his eyes. Pretending not to notice, I started telling him about all the things I'd miss about leaving.
"I'm going to miss the people who always know you and the small park that we always played in and the time that we did this and that." As I kept talking, he put his head down. At the time, I didn't know the reason why he did it. Only that he must've been crying about me leaving him. That was the only thing that crossed my mind.
I bowed down to see his face. Suddenly, he lifted his head up fast and produced a small smile. I stepped back at his sudden movement and slipped. "Woah!" He caught me in his arms.
"T-thanks," I said standing up. He smiled sadly and said, "Remember, you can always talk to me about anything." "Sorry, but I don't think I'd take advise from you," I said coldly. He looked shocked at what I said. It stayed like that for a moment. Breaking the ice, I said jokingly, "It was a joke!" Trying to maintain a smile, I looked at him innocently.
He looked at me with a sad smile. Rubbing my head once again, he sneakingly pulled me into a tight hug. "I'll miss you Ry," a short pause and I felt him smile when he continued, "Remember, I'll see you soon." He let go of me suddenly. Trying to maintain balance, I spun around to see him leaving.
"Wait!" I yelled. He turned his head a bit and, as if waiting for a response, stopped. Feeling my cheeks turning red, I said, "I'll come back to see you and everyone else someday!" All he did was wave his right hand in the air. That would be the last time I'd see him.
Confused, I smiled softly. I turned my attention to the slowly changing scenery, wondering what will meet me in the future.
Little did I notice, he had a slightly red face and trying to hide it. He looked back and smiled sheepishly and left.
