267 days. 267 goddamn days in this.....place. This hellhole of suffering and agony. Everyday is the same. The mist rolls in, I pass out, and I wake up in a familiar yet alien place. I'm accompanied by 3 other people when I'm forced into these... trials. We all try to repair 5 generators while something...something dark. Something evil. Something out for blood tries to sacrifice us to the "entity" as we call it. The other people here, well some have been here longer than others. Those people barely have anything left to them. I almost never hear them scream when they're hit, killed, and or sacrificed by the killer. Their eyes are empty. They're running fumes. It's only a matter of time before they don't show up at the campfire after the trial ends. The entity doesn't take people for any specific reasons. It doesn't prefer a certain race, gender, sexuality, or upbringing. It's victims are chosen at random. Maybe that's the thing we don't understand. Nothing is personal with the entity.
Some of the people the entity has brought here are quite interesting though. Bill has a lot of tales to tell. He says that he's been to Vietnam twice and he definitely has the age to prove it. And apparently fought the undead, like Ash. But he fought demons that possessed his friends. So similar but not quite the same. Listening to their stories was interesting but I could only listen to Ash so many times about some woman he hooked up with.
I remember one night, I was by the fire with a few other people who were still awake. It was me, Detective Tapp, an ex cop and detective who spends most of his time reminiscing about what he could've done to stop John Kramer. Yui Kimura, a street racer who debates often what could have been. Kate Denson, the one who finally got me to start socializing among the other survivors, she also has a knack for singing. And Feng Min, the gamer. That's all I need to say about her.
I was sitting next to Kate, the bright orange fire illuminated everyone's faces. She gently strummed her guitar that she found deep within the fog, and hummed a faint unique tune. I felt exhaustion beginning to prick at my body, there were whispers from Tapp about jigsaw, and what he could have done. Yui continued to stare at the fire, motionless, deep in thought by the look in her eyes. Feng drew plans with a stick in the dirt always ready for the next trial. She always thought of new ways to do well on trials. How to distract the killer, how to get the generators done faster ect. She has such an intelligence. It's a damn shame that it's wasted here.
As I continued feeling the exhaustion creeping in I laid my head on Kate's shoulder. Normally such a display of affection would mean romantic interest. But not here, we all had a mutual understanding of each other here, of what each other was feeling at an exact moment in time. So displays of affection was just the norm here. Kate looked down and gave a faint smile and wrapped her arm around me. The extra warmth caused the exhaustion to consume me faster. As my eyes began to become heavier I looked around to see Yui sit down and prop her head against the log getting ready to sleep. I saw Tapp doing the same, his whispers about jigsaw becoming more hushed. I felt Kate set her guitar on the log, she wrapped her now free arm around me as she moved herself and me off the log. The last thing I saw before the exhaustion fully consumed me was the glow of the fire and how it almost made Kate's blonde hair glow in the foggy eternal night sky.A/N: I wrote the first few chapters months in advance so they'll come out quick.
