SwanQueen one shot

The morning had been spent coercing her teenage son out of bed and to school, before heading into work. She had been looking for a book on her shelf when she felt two hands pinch at her sides making her jump out of her skin, dropping the book she was holding. She knew exactly who it was. Emma. Her best friend. She turned to face Emma who was laughing at her loudly. Placing her hand on her chest hoping to calm the beat she leaned back against the cupboard and looked up at the offending blonde, who was still laughing.
"You scared me!" Regina tried to be mad, but she found that Emma's laugh was quite contagious.
"I can see that, I just wanted to ask if you wanted to grab something from Granny's with me?"
Regina looked down at her wrist- two PM.
"Sure, why not"
Before she could get another word out, Emma grabbed her hand and they were out the door. She was pushed into the passenger seat of the bug and watched as Emma skipped her way to the driver's side.
"Well you're in a good mood today." Regina chuckled.
"Yeah" Emma nodded, still with a dopey grin on her face.
The pulled off in the direction of the diner, Emma humming along to the radio, and Regina watching in admiration the entire time. Emma was something else.
Ruby greeted them as they headed inside and they sat down at a booth in the far corner. Emma ordered her usual hot chocolate with cinnamon with a grilled cheese, and Regina a coffee and a ham and cheese sandwich. Small talk and laughter carried them through lunch. Regina got out her purse to pay, but before she had the chance Emma pushed it away and payed for it herself. Her protests died on deaf ears before she was pulled up by Emma and dragged away, just managing to wave goodbye to Ruby.
Regina quickly realised that Emma wasn't driving them back to work, and whenever she asked she just got giggles in response. She wasn't worried though, she knew Emma would keep her safe. They pulled up to a secluded part of the woods that had a little pond. Emma got out first, before skipping around to open Regina's door.
"It's pretty isn't it? I found it when I went for a drive to clear my mind."
"Yeah, it's gorgeous." Regina headed towards the pond and watched the wildlife.
Emma walked up behind her and grabbed her hand, "Regina?"
She turned to face the blonde, "Yea-"
Her words were cut short when she was pulled close and kissed. She was surprised, but quickly relaxed, returning it with ease. They broke away panting slightly, leaning their heads against one another.
"Emma-" she started, but quickly found she had nothing to say, so instead just kissed her again.
It was softer, than before. That one was a wish, but this one was a promise.a promise that this was something she was willing to try.
