Omari's POV:I couldn't stop thinking about what happened earlier this week.
How could I pull away when Valaria's soft, warm and glossy lips were mine? I want more of her. But I know I can't have her.
Everyday this week I've tried to talk to Valeria at school but before I can get to her she's gone.
It's obvious she's been avoiding me. She never takes the route I do and never stays in the halls for too long so she doesn't bump into me.
I miss when she bothers me when I'm focused or plays with my locs when she's bored . Her warm vanilla sugar scent is nowhere to be found and I just can't help but wonder what I did to deserve this.
I've never felt so alone.
That's it. I know what I have to do.
The rest of the day goes smoothly because all I'm thinking about is how to get her to talk to me.
When I get to last period, I'm filled with dread and the atmosphere stiffens. My teacher gives me a death stare from across the room, attempting to burn a hole through me.
I sit at the back of the class keeping my head low.
I just want school to be over already.
When I think things can't get any worse my teacher starts, "Omari why don't you explain to the class what we're learning since you think you're more fit to be a teacher," my teacher snarls with an evil look in her eyes.
I look up to all eyes on me. I hate it.
"Nah, I'd rather not," I reply, looking her in the eyes and trying to keep my composure.
"Thought so."
It takes everything in me not to say anything back but I still roll me eyes.
She turns back to the board, mouthing words that are inaudible to me while my mind drifts off.
I need to talk to Valaria.
*A few minutes later*
As soon as the dismissal bell rings I ask one of my guy friends for a ride home.
We've been friends since middle school but we seem to slowly drift apart. His parents own a popular clothing company and a bunch of properties across the country.
I see him leaning against one of his cars with his plain white tee shirt on his tan skin.
"Yoo what's up Omari! Been a minute since I've seen you," Micheal exclaims as I make my way over to his dark blue Audi.
"You know I've been focusing on school and stuff," I reply when we both sit on his black leather seats and slam the door closed.
Micheal continues as he zooms out of the school parking lot, "Hmm. What about you and Valaria?"
"What about us?" I chuckle, trying to hide how desperately I want her but I can't.
"You know, are you guys dating yet?"
"What? Dating? That's my best friend and you know that."
"Oh. Okay," Micheal hums as he turns onto my street.
"Then you wouldn't mind if I hooked up with her right?"
As soon as the those words leave his mouth my mood changes and I speak without thinking.
"If you ever put your hands on her I'll kill you," I say sternly as I pull out my sharp, black switchblade against his throat.
"Woah, relax bro. I thought you weren't dating," he replies as his grip on the steering wheel tightens.
