DISCLAIMER: OUTLAST AND ITS CHARACTERS ARE WRITTEN AND CREATED BY THE COMPANY RED BARRELS . THIS IS SIMPLY A FANFICTION. JODIE MILLER AND ANY OTHER VILLAINS AND SCENARIOS THAT ARE NOT IN THE GAME/COMIC ARE CREATED BY ME.

My phone screen lit up as I received an email notification from Miles. I squeezed my eyes shut and held my head in my hands as I let out an exasperated sigh.
I was in a slump. Work was not looking good. I was an investigative journalist working alongside my colleague and close friend Miles Upshur in Washington DC. Unfortunately due to some circumstances, Miles was fired and decided to become a self employed freelance journalist. We still keep in touch here and there, but he has been working on some projects that I have no knowledge of.
He's a lucky bastard. I've been stuck with writers block for a few weeks. I have bills to pay and my checks aren't as hefty as they are when I'm on a roll.
I check my phone to view the email. It was actually a forwarded email Miles sent from an unknown email address, 10260110756@mutemail.com. I've never seen a domain like that before.

Subject: TIP / Illegal Activity at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems

You don't know me. Have to make this quick. They might be monitoring.

I did 2 weeks of software consult at MURKOFF Psychiatric Systems' facilities in Mount Massive. All sorts of NDA's I am very much breaking right now but seriously, fuck those guys.

Terrible things happening here. Don't understand it. Don't believe half the things I saw. Doctors talking about dream therapy going too deep, finding something that had been waiting for them in the mountain. People are being hurt and Murkoff is making money.

It needs to be exposed.

Holy shit. What?
Murkoff Corporation? It was big news that they reopened Mount Massive Asylum, but they claimed it to be a charitable organization.
This is insane. And a great story to cover. I'm glad Miles gets to have this going for him. It's like a big slap in the face to our manager.

But I can't help wondering if he's going to be in danger. Murkoff is one of the biggest companies in America. Miles might be putting his life at risk.

I open the message app and scroll to find his contact.

Me: Hey Miles. Just saw your email, that's crazy!! Are you going?
A piece inside me is hoping he doesn't go. Murkoff is all the way in Colorado which means he'd have to catch a flight.
*ding*
Miles: I'm waiting to board my flight right now. Rushed super quick to the airport and booked the last remaining ticket.
Welp. That answers that.
Me: Murkoff seems dangerous. Are you sure you can handle this? You might get in trouble.
Miles: Don't worry about me Jodie. You know I can handle it. How bad can it really be?

He's right. How bad can it actually be? Murkoff didn't ever really seem too shady.

Me: Just text me when you reach, okay?
Miles: Okay mom
How lame.

I decided to open a new tab and do more research on Murkoff. It just seemed like a boring company to me. I'm not tech savvy enough to understand some of the terms.
I hope the whistleblower who emailed Miles really got some juicy info for him.
