-The picture I chose for inspiration-
——————————————————————————The joyous people of Perry gathered upon Beaumont Mountain, an open mountain range that overlooked the Valley of Unique Wonders, preparing to watch the Changing of the Seasons. The land below lay frozen under a sheet of white powder, waiting patiently to be freed from the frostbitten cold. People huddled close around warming fires, enjoying the festivities that came with the celebration. Children started snowball fights with their friends and families, whilst others danced to merry songs and stood at portable stalls housing sweet smelling foods, exquisite jewellery, fine clothing and carefully made crafts.
Amongst the swarm of bustling citizens, a wise king watched the people he ruled over as they sang and danced with the knowledge that the cooler days would soon end. He knew they loved the magic that came alive when the seasons changed from white to colour, ice to water, snow to grass.
As the king turned his gaze from his people to the ground under a small oak tree, he noticed soft petals of the palest pink peeking out of the frozen Earth. He approached and, with frail fingers, plucked three glowing roses from the ground, stroking the beautiful flowers as he strolled to the edge of the mountain. The man thought about how far his people had come during the past year. They had united their lands with those of the Costrial, had a bountiful harvest season and started plans to expand their growing kingdom. He turned his back to the large drop behind him and looked at his wife chatting enthusiastically to old friends and his daughter curled up with his grandson. He was proud of this, his kingdom he had cared for and cherished.
"People of Perry!" the king bellowed loudly, interrupting the activities. "We have come far during this past year in our kingdom and I am proud of you all for playing a part."
The man raised his hand holding the roses to the people who gasped in delight.
"The roses have begun to bloom and with that a new hope has arisen as well. I hope that we will have yet another prosperous year ahead of us beginning with the Changing of the Seasons, where the cold that is winter is broken by the warmth of spring. A new season of rebirth for all things that draw strength from our lands."
The king gestured for his family to make their way to his side.
"As is tradition, when the roses touch the ground at the bottom of this mountain, winter will bleed into spring and all may rejoice in the harmony and joy that it shall bring."
With the final words, the king gave a rose to his wife and daughter before they threw them off the side of the frozen cliff with smiles as bright as a million fairy lights. A chorus of cheers were heard behind the royal family as they watched the beautiful flowers fall from the great height.
The shimmering roses hit the blanket of snow below and faded into sparks of pink and white, gliding gracefully across the frozen land, melting the glistening white into nothing and leaving lush green grass in its place. Letting the magic flow across the valley and up the mountain, sparks danced around the people, tangling in their hair and sticking to their clothes as the citizens twirled in joy, howling with glee.
The pillow-like grey clouds above their heads parted revealing open blue skies, letting the radiant sun shine through and warm the soil before flowers of all different variations sprouted from the reborn earth, ranging from tulips to forget-me-nots, carnations to lilies.
The king turned to his people with pride as they laughed and played amongst the last of the magic that still hung in the air. A refreshing breeze blew and he smiled broadly. . These people were his passion, his light and he would do anything to make sure that the fire they held as a kingdom never burnt out.
