It's so loud

It's so cold

It's so...red

"Listen to me."

It hurts

"Your going to be fine"

Did they really have to send them out like lambs to slaughter?

"I'm gonna save you"

It's not right

"Then we can go home"

"H-Hey! Look, there's something I've been meaning to tell you for the longest time"

"Hey!"

Please

"HEY!"

"Don't go!"

It's not fair

"Don't leave me alone!"

It's hard to explain. . . But how does one describe this feeling? There is no warmth. There is no cold. There is no sound.
Numb to the point where you can't tell if your still holding something.
Even though your eyes see it clearly. Knuckles turning white and a clenching jaw.

It feels as though this moment is lasting for years, but it's mere seconds. A hand that gently caressed the side of ones face slowly slips away, falling upon a crimson and ivory blanket.

The world continues to move yet the pair remains still. Frozen like the ground they trample on. Puffs of steam slip past ones lips, yet there is no warmth. No cold.

Glazed orbs clash with dull hues. Clammy fingers shake as they desperately hold onto the navy cloth.

But it is futile

No matter how much they will it. There is no return. No breath. No movement. No warmth. Swallowing back ones pain was no easy feat, yet despite the obvious, one couldn't help but to press further. Searching for another heart beat. This is so confusing. Just a moment ago they stood, and now one remains hunched over the others limp form. Knee's sinking further in the snow.

Rifles discarded, scattered by the craters of exploding shells. Bodies adorning the once white hill.

How could this happen?

How do I describe this feeling?
When so much has happened yet... There is nothing left. Something is completely wrong. Something has been torn open, leaving behind a empty husk.

What is this?

I feel...

Loss
