Everybody has different perceptions of the night. For some, night time means rest: when you're done with activities for the day and you need to cash out from reality. For others, night means that the darker side of the world can thrive. All sorts of crime and adventure that is bred by the dark. However, the night holds two possibilities, the above examples being brief examples of each. And nobody rules the night as much as she does.

The bank alarms went off, which she expected. She didn't, however, expect him to carry all that loot. As he followed her out of the narrow alley behind the bank, she could literally hear his teeth chattering. He wondered how she could be so calm in the midst of all the chaos. When she told him that they would steal money from the bank, he didn't think that they would actually rob a bank. They walked and hid behind a building, it's front a neon sign they couldn't read as it was written in Chinese.

"How much is that bunch?" She asked him as she finished counting the bunch she was carrying, which she returned in her sack. "...three, four five, six, um seven, eight, .....two hundred thousand." He said as he too returned the money inside the sack he was holding. They stood up and looked towards the direction of the bank, where they could hear the alarms still blaring.

"Listen Nate," she said as she shoved the sack to his chest. "Go straight to your apartment and lay low. Clear all your debts in house arrears and the after a week from now, get out of here." She enunciated every word so he could understand with clarity. "Wait, what if they-"

"They're not gonna catch you, Nate." She said with a sorrowful smile gracing her lips. "You know the drill, okay? I'll take care of everything from here." She turned around ready to run, until she heard his voice. "I'll miss you, you know?" She turned around without fully looking at him. She smiled and said, "I too Nate. Take care of yourself." She ran away and disappeared behind another alley, Nate watching her silhouette fade.

A while later, she stood an top of a building adjacent to the bank, watching the police trying to figure out how the robbery happened, Nate on her mind. She didn't have another choice. There was no other way he could get the money, even if she saved money for him for a year. His prospects were null and void. She did what she had to do.

As she departed from the building, she didn't fail to notice a glint in the corner of her eye. Just as she looked behind, she made eye contact with someone, a man, she assumed, because of his build. The glint was from the badge he wore on his uniform. Though she was panicking, she turned and walked away, the contact lasting only a few seconds.

And just like that, she was gone
