She did nights like these quite often. Studying spells, she wanted to become a powerful mage like the rest of them. She wanted to get rid of her hunch, her misfigured form. You thought she was beautiful like that too, but you had been too afraid to tell her how you feel. You were only a servant in Aretuza, and Tissaia probably wouldn't approve it if you two had a relationship. If Yennefer would even reciprocate your feelings.

She had turned to look at you now, snapping you out from your daze. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare." you apologized and a small smile appeared on her lips.

"It's okay. I feel less alone if someone is here." she glanced at the chair beside her bed. "Do you want to sit down?"

You blinked at her in surprise, but nodded shortly after. She still smiled at you as you as you sat down, and then turned her gaze back to her book. She had studied for so long, for months to make spells or even a small, pretty string of magic with no effect, but with no avail.

But when you were in the room with her, she felt so much more confident. She felt like she would be able to do anything. You had always believed in her, picked her up if she felt miserable, sat beside her bed if she couldn't sleep - and she had developed feelings towards you. She was sure you didn't feel the same, but when she saw you smiling at her with warmth in your eyes - she felt like she was just where she was meant to be.
