Her eyes get lost in the moon's shimmering light, her long, hazel hair flows with the momentum of the breeze. The woman gazes at her reflection in the still water before her.
Suddenly, a deep, stern voice behind her, "One disturbance in your pond, can have a great rippled affect". A great mass is thrown overtop of the woman in to the water, splashing her and rippling the water as result. She spun around quickly to see nothing but the dark, wooded trail she came through."Don't let that happen to you Mae", the man snickered. The young woman known as Mae, realised the voice was not behind but indeed above. Her eyes darted to the branches above, dilating them to see who or what was speaking.
The thing in the trees had the body of man, yet, the limbs were bent in such ways not even a human contortionist can perform so easily. The wind started to pick up and her chest began to tighten. Mae's eyes became fixed onto the abnormal humanoid figure, observing it's features. A loose layer of decomposing skin covered the creature, with what appeared to be deep, scratch or tear marks near its shoulder blades. However, woman was far more shocked by its horrendous facial features. He had beady eyes drooped low with a yellow glow, occasionally twitching from side to side. The mouth opened wide, temple to temple. He possessed neither a frown nor a smile.
In disbelief, Mae stood frozen as the wind died down to a stop. It felt like hours had passed. Her feet firmly planted in the rich soil of the forest, only the sound of Mae's pitter pattering heart can be heard in her ears.
In an instant, the breeze returned and immediately turned stronger and stronger. Raging whirling sounds could be heard coming through the branches. The water splashes again. Between the wind and rippled affect of whatever dropped in the pond twice, had caused large waves to splash ashore. Mae was unfazed by these newer events, still starring at the creature before her; both held still. The waves began to grow and Mae could hear the water beginning to splash and feel her shoes start to soak. In an instant, the water was rising. Her focus began to dissolve on the creature, and build on the concern of pond's increasing water level.
Right before Mae could look down or even question her surrounding, she sees the humanoid man crawl across the branch and down the tree trunk in a blink of an eye. Every movement of its body sounded like the cracks of branches on the forest floor.
Before she realised, the strange, pale, being was right next to her facing the opposite direction. "See, I told you Mae, don't let your pond get disturbed.."  His huge mouth smiled pointing towards the pong behind her. Mae worriedly turned around, and followed the long boney arm and finger with her eyes to the water. The creature continued, "..or it can have a rippled affect." Her eyes opened wide, and so did her mouth to scream; nothing came out but a small whimper.
The winds began to die once again. All that was heard then was the hellish cackle of a laugh which soon faded with the wind. Mae decided to glance at the being another time, to which there was no one there, or anywhere she can see around her. She turned her head back to the once beautiful pond. Two black, body shaped bags were seen bobbing. The clear, still water it once was, was soon to become a blood bath, as the red water around the bags began to disperse.
Mae fell to her knees in the over-watered soil, as her world became surrounded in darkness.
