Pietro struggled to open his eyes, it took a lot more energy than he thought, he could feel his eyelids feel heavy, so he blinked slowly, waiting for the fog in his vision to slowly fade, and when everything seemed clearer, he tried to understand his surroundings and regain his memory. The hearing was the next sense that came back to him, everything sounded calm, except for the steady beep, it was a little annoying and made his head dizzy, he wasn't even sure if the sound was from the room around him or just in his head.
He tried to take a deep breath, and immediately realized something was wrong with his lungs, it felt like they were burning every time he took a breath, this had happened before, and to experience it again, was a perfect mix of bad luck and his even worse decisions.
If only he could have been faster, if Jean hadn't seen him back then, this wouldn't happen, he wouldn't be in a hospital bed, writhing in boredom and all this excruciating pain.
After it took him a few minutes to process his surroundings and try to deal with the swelling pain in his chest, he soon realized that he was shirtless, a blanket and thick bandages being the only thing covering his chest.
And he found himself alone.
Pietro let out a small groan as he once again felt his lungs burn as he breathed, guessing how many ribs he had broken this time. Then he tried to lift his bandaged right arm, relieved that he didn't break another bone to add to his current list of suffering.
This time he raised his left hand, reaching for the oxygen mask which was frankly more annoying than all the IV tubes in his hands. He tried to straighten himself up, struggling to get into a sitting position, groaning in annoyance several times at all the pain that was hitting him all at once.
He pulled the blanket over his chest while he tried to reach for the hospital gown he had just found on the table beside his bed. He had to quickly get dressed and look for anyone he could find for an explanation of what had happened. There were many questions in his head, which motivated him to get out of bed immediately, the last thing he remembered was ending up in someone's garden after Jean threw him on the side of the road.
Still trying to reach for the hospital gown, Pietro's eyes widened and his breathing quickened as the intensity of the pain in his chest increased, the machine roared around him, but he ignored it until a familiar voice was heard.
"Sweet Agon, Pietro! What do you think you're doing?" Crystal ran to him, slowly pushing him back to lie down.
"Crys? Why are you here?" Pietro asked, giving up and lying back down in despair.
"Seriously? My husband almost died because of his unstable friend and you're still asking why I'm here!" Crystal frowned.
Pietro grimaced "I'm fine now, you don't have to worry okay?"
