The sound of sizzling echoes around the kitchen.
"What is it?"
"A mobile."
"A phone?"
Tae giggles and looks over at his Husband who is pushing some vegetables around a wok. "A baby mobile. I love you my little Kērā."
"The thing that hangs above the crib?" Jungkook asks, still without looking.
"Yes. My Parents sent it when I told them about the Montessori stuff we have been reading."
"I found an interesting article yesterday. I like that Montessori suggests that children under three have an unconscious absorbent mind." Jungkook had been doing a lot of research.
"MJ's mind is still absorbent though and he's nine."
"Yeah well, you don't help. Chipmunk called me Uncle Kērā on the phone yesterday." Jungkook turns around and raises his brow at his Husband who is leaning against the kitchen work top behind him.
Tae really can't do anything other than giggle as he places the mobile back in the box and walks over to where Jungkook is standing near their oven. "But it is cute."
Jungkook tries to look unimpressed but five years on, he is still as affected by Tae as he was from the day he walked into that art room. "It isn't cute and you said that you wouldn't use it outside of the house."
"Technically, it wasn't outside of the house because I was talking to him on the phone..." Tae kisses the tip of Jungkook's nose, "... don't look at me like that... it is cute."
"Tae, you call me 'banana' in Nepali and now Chipmunk calls me Uncle Banana... I will argue with you all day that it isn't cute."
"Are we going to have our first argument?" Tae asks with a grin.
Jungkook laughs and shakes his head, "Probably not but it still isn't cute... you, on the other hand are cute and I'm completely smitten."
"I'm smitten much more than you are." Tae says as he kisses his husband.
"Much more? Shall we have our first argument over who loves who the most?"
Tae laughs, "Only if you want those veggies to burn, my little Kērā."
When Jungkook turns to finish off the dinner, Tae leaves him to it and takes the mobile through to the nursery. Their little three bedroom house is his palace. They moved in just after the wedding three years ago and the first room they decorated was the one that is currently being redecorated. Three years ago it was requested that the room was decorated to be a prehistoric paradise. There were pterodactyls on the ceiling, large green leafy trees and various other dinosaurs painted on the walls. The dinosaurs had since been exchanged for fossils, which according to MinJun was growth because his career path had changed from being a dinosaur trainer to an archaeologist. The couple wanted to make sure the room was ready for when the baby arrived so that MinJun felt that he wasn't forgotten, even if everyone knew that was impossible.
The room that Tae walked into was the nursery. He'd painted the room himself, a giant rainbow across two walls makes for a striking visual in the sky themed space. On the opposite two walls there was a night sky, complete with tiny lights for stars. The whole room was designed by the couple, taking little elements from all their research. He hung the mobile above the baby's cot and looked at the tiny bed that would soon have their son in it. He was deep in thought when he felt hands on his shoulders and a kiss to his nape.
"Not long now, huh?" Jungkook says.
Tae reaches up and places his hands over his husband's. "A week at the most, hopefully."
