Weird. I got up and walked off towards the parking lot again. Once I got there, I saw my best friends leaning against a car. Jason and Skyler had been my friends since the 3rd grade. They were always friends. They were the only ones that didn't mind my company.
"Vee!!" Sky called, waving her hand frantically. I ran over.
"Hey!" I said while giving them hugs.
"Hey. You ok? you don't look too well." Jason said after kissing my cheek. After all, he was my boyfriend.
"Yeah. I just... ran into Kyler. It was so strange."
"YOU? Ran into Kyler?" Sylvia said, giving a side glance towards Jason.
"Why'd you run into him? What happened?" They both asked frantically.
I explained what happened to them, and in response, they looked shocked and stayed quiet and exchanged looks and whispered to each other.
"Oh, for god's sake, what?!" I said for what felt like the millionth time.
"I- Nothing," Jason finally said.
"Let's go home."They got into Sylvia's silver Porsche (while I rode my motorcycle) to my house.
Sylvia and Jason were good friends. Sometimes I wondered how they had become my friends. I pondered how they became friends.
Jason was the sporty type. Tall, skinny, brown hair, and open-minded. He even played basketball, so he was always wearing the team uniform.
Sylvia, on the other hand, had the mollycoddled look. She was rich, yes, but she wasn't Snobby like most. Sylvia was sweet and very soft. Her parents tried everything to keep her in private school, but she didn't want it. She loved it here. Of course, because they couldn't keep her in private schools, they bought her the top brands and would buy anything else. She somehow managed to get off with a dress that wasn't one of the highest brands you can get out there. She always made off with it and flats of the same brand.
When we got home, something seemed off. The always gorgeous house now seemed gloomy and dark for the first time. It had never looked like this before.
"Vee? You ok?" Sylvia said, placing a hand on my shoulder. I snapped out of my daze.
"Huh? oh, yeah, I'm good. " I said and walked toward the house with the key in hand.
"Dad! I'm home." I called from the front room.
"I'm in the kitchen!" A deep, soothing voice called back.
Dad looked Like he could be a Boxer or a security guard. Not what you'd expect with a caring and sweet dad. He was tall, buff, and had a rugged look. He had pale skin and a scar across his face. His hair was like mine, dark red and curly. He slicked it back to keep it out of his eyes.
" Hey, Mr. Willow!" Sylvia and Jason said while walking towards the chairs at the counter.
"What are you kids- Hey! don't touch that yet." Dad said, batting at my hand.
Dad loved cooking. He always made cool things for us after school. Today was chocolate muffins.
"Hey, Dad?" I asked, grabbing a muffin.
"What's up? Put it down! They're not ready yet." He answered.
"where's mom? you said I could know about her when I'm older."
He froze where he was.
"Vee," he started
"I know, I know. But..." I was interrupted by a loud noise coming from outside.
"What was that?" I turned but was grabbed quickly by Jason.
"Go," My Father said to Skylar and Jason.
" Take her to the safe house and keep her there!" He pointed to the back wall.
"What's going on?" I said quietly.
"Via, look at me." He took my face in his hands
"I love you, and I wish I could explain it, but I don't have time. They'll explain it to you." I heard the door crash.
"GO. Now!" He shoved us towards the wall.
