(Donghae's POV)
Donghae smiled when he heard Ryeowook's sweet voice, as he always did, "Donghae-ah?" he asked, they were talking on the phone.
"Ryeonggu?" Donghae laughed, "Can you meet me at the park at 10 pm?"
"So late? Okay, ohh, you're already there, aren't you, you naughty boy! You'll catch a cold, do you have a sweater on?"
"Yes, yes, don't fuss, Wookie." Donghae laughed some more, how could he not, when he had the sweetest, cutest crush in the world.
"How was work today?" Ryeowook asked. Donghae worked part time at an aquarium, he loved swimming amongst the fish and feeding them, and he did get a nice salary. As for Ryeowook, he worked part time as a composer, they were now in their last year of college.
"Fine." Donghae said, "I like fishies."
"I know, Donghae." Ryeowook giggled. Donghae wondered if Ryeowook really found it that funny. "I'll go get dressed now, see you soon!" Ryeowook hung up with a chuckle.
Donghae smiled satisfactorily as he sat down on one of the park benches, he had a large bouquet of flowers in his hands, for Ryeowook.
Donghae thought back to when he had first met Ryeowook, back then Ryeowook had been shy up to the point where he couldn't even speak to anyone, he just nodded or shook his head, or said yes or no.
But Donghae found him adorable from the start, his hair fell into his eyes, he had a small, petite frame, and that sugar sweet voice. Though of course Donghae barely heard it back then, since Ryeowook didn't really talk. But he took Ryeowook under his wing, a month passed and Ryeowook became more comfortable with him, he was willing to talk now, and it turned out that they both had an interest in music. He learned that while he liked fish, Ryeowook was crazy about giraffes, Donghae wondered if it was because Ryeowook himself was so short while giraffes were so tall.
Three months into their friendship, they became the best of friends, they did everything together, and Ryeowook told him everything there was to know about him. What made Donghae sad was when Ryeowook told him about all his old friends who said they would keep in touch and cried about how much they would miss him, but now they just rolled their eyes when he visited. Donghae swore that he would never leave Ryeowook like that.
He remembered his every moment with Ryeowook, because every moment that they spent together was precious. The only thing Ryeowook never told him about was his love life. Donghae had asked him about it many times, sometimes with a serious approach, and sometimes joking, but Ryeowook would just blush furiously and say, "Hyung!" in embarrassment, and they got no further than that.
Donghae had always wanted to ask Ryeowook out, but somehow, his courage always failed him, until tonight, Donghae decided that it was time he ask Ryeowook to be his boyfriend. Donghae had been crushing on Ryeowook since he set eyes on him, 10:00 am, Saturday, August 6. Their first year at college, and now that it was their last, Donghae wanted to do it quick.
On the day they met, Ryeowook walked into the classroom at 10 am sharp, and just like that day, Ryeowook now walked into view just as the clock struck 10 pm.
Donghae held him breath, Ryeowook was dressed in dark jeans and gray sweater with the hoodie over his head, his hands were in his pocket and his head was bent, his expression thoughtful. He was beautiful.
And then suddenly, he lifted his head up to see Donghae, he smiled and waved in delight and made his way over.
Donghae got up nervously, the bouquet hidden behind his back. This is it, He thought, The time has come, there's no way out now. Though he appeared only a little nervous on the outside, he was completely frantic inside.
"Donghae!" Ryeowook came bounding up to him, that pure, innocent smile still on his face. The same smile as always. Donghae could not help but wonder if Ryeowook really was as pure and innocent as his smile. Was he a virgin? Or not?
Ryeowook's voice shook him out of his thoughts and brought him back to the real world, "Donghae-ah! What are you hiding behind your back?"
Donghae's fingers shook violently as he brought the bouquet of flowers out from behind his back and handed it to Ryeowook, "For you," he said softly. He was sure that the worse was coming, that Ryeowook would look at him with disgust and throw the bouquet to the ground. He would run away, marry another man, and he would have no wish to see Donghae ever again.
But that was not what happened.
"Thank you." Ryeowook said in his angelic voice as he took the bouquet from Donghae, he stroked the petals on a rose, "It's lovely."
Donghae nearly cried with relief. Now. He thought.
"Ryeowook-ah." Donghae said, he wrapped his arms around Ryeowook's waist and drew him close, and once again, Ryeowook did not protest and draw away from him as he had expected.
"Donghae-ah." Ryeowook closed his eyes.
Donghae kissed each of Ryeowook's eyelids and before gently pressing his lips against Ryeowook's. Instinctively Ryeowook also wrapped his arms around Donghae's body. Ryeowook's lips were so soft against his own. They melted into the kiss.
After a minute, they pulled apart, and Ryeowook gazed at him with an expression full of love. "Wookie-ah, will you be my boyfriend?" Finally, after so many years, those words were finally coming out of Donghae's mouth.
Ryeowook nodded, more shy than ever, "Yes." He whispered, then - "Yes!" he threw his arms around Donghae and kissed him once more, and, losing his balance, they tumbled onto the wet grass, with Ryeowook on top of him.
Surprisingly, neither of them found it awkward, they lay in the grass, kissing again and again. Donghae wanted to stay like that forever, but finally, they got up, "Ryeowook-ah, come home with me tonight," he said.
"Okay." Ryeowook blushed.
"Don't get the wrong idea! I won't do anything yet, not on our first night, but ... cuddle?"
"Cuddle!" Ryeowook agreed, and he allowed Donghae to carry him back to his small apartment as if he were a baby.
Donghae got into his pajamas and lent Ryeowook another pair to wear. Donghae got the one with fish on them and Ryeowook's had giraffes. Donghae had bought it thinking of Ryeowook.
Donghae closed the lights and joined Ryeowook on his king sized bed, "I love you, Wookie," He whispered as Ryeowook snuggled up against Donghae's chest.
"I love you too hyung, ever since the first time you spoke to me." Ryeowook whispered back.
"I loved you ever since I set eyes on you." Donghae whispered.
And they continued to exchange I-love-you's and kisses, until they both fell asleep, with Ryeowook's head on Donghae's shoulder and their arms wrapped tight around each other, never letting go.
