It was around five or so, in the afternoon, and I was making my daily trip to the library. I was rearing down Pine Ave. when I received a text.
Avi-Hey where are you? I’ve been waiting for like…twenty minutes! Xx
Not looking up for a minute, I quickly typed in a reply.
Ollie- Sorry, be there in five. Xx
I had barely hit send when I crashed into someone, sending us both to the ground. I groaned as I sat up. I was about to apologize when I heard a familiar tune.
She’s not afraid of all the attention, she’s not afraid of run-
The song was cut off by the boy hastily grabbing his phone and picking up his ear buds. I was still standing there, mouth open slightly when he spoke.
“Watch it will ya?” He mumbled rolling his eyes.
“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.” I admitted smiling sheepishly.
“Obviously.” He smiled slightly.
I took that time to study his features. He was rather handsome; he had dark brown hair and light brown eyes. He was wearing a navy blue jumper and worn converse.
“Hey, what’s your na-” I stopped talking when I noticed her was gone. It whipped around and saw hip walking away, his ear buds in once again.
I sighed, frustrated, and tucked some hair behind my ear. I squatted down to retrieve my phone and called Avianna.
“You won’t believe what just happened.”
~~~
“Where were you?!” Avi yelled as I walked through the library doors, earning a dis-approving look from the librarian.
“I got sidetracked.” I said taking a seat next to her.
“So, tell me what happened.” Avi said patiently.
After I told her what happened, she looked at me in disbelief.
“She’s Not Afraid? As in One Direction’s song?” she whispered. I only nodded.
“And you’re sure it was a guy…” she asked carefully. This time it was my turn to roll my eyes.
“Avi, I’m pretty sure I know what a guy looks like.” I said with a smirk. She considered this before speaking.
“Do you know what this may mean?” She whispered leaning in. She looked so serious it kind of worried me.
“Uh no, actually. Not really.” I could have sworn I heard her mumble idiot. Before I could even process what she could be thinking, she continued.
“You have officially found a male directioner.”
I gave her an unimpressed look. What’s the big deal? If a guy likes One Direction he should be able to peacefully.
“So? I don’t understand what the big deal is…” I said trailing off at the end. I was never big on boy-bands, so I don’t know the “rules”. Avi gave one last eye roll before speaking.
“The big deal is that, aside from all the gay jokes and hate thrown at them by guys, One Direction never really had any male fans. Remember that one joke: What direction do five gay guys go in?”
I nod
“Well yeah, Ollie, It’s not every day you see a guy listening to One Direction.” She concluded.
“So…was he cute?”
