chapter 38 - nothing, everything

Pov: Eliza

"We're graduating in a week bitch!!" Maia yells and jumps on my back, I burst into laughter and grab her legs so I'm giving her a full-blown piggyback ride. 

She was right, we're graduating in a week and I couldn't be more excited!

I can't believe my entire school life is coming to an end, now the next step is college and I can't wait.

A new and better chapter, although I honestly loved high school, most of it that is. 

It's been four months, four whole months since Carter moved to Italy. 

And in those four months, I got the chance to accept what is, is, and what's done is done. 

There is no doubt in my mind that the love Carter and me had was genuine, I know it was and my most treasured memory would always remain falling in love with him & being loved by him.

But I realized that it was an experience, maybe a lesson too, sometimes love lasts and sometimes it doesn't. 

I accepted it, I did feel alone and pretty much miserable the first two months but by the end of the third, I was way better. 

Elliot was with me and by my side, the whole time & so were Cole, Maia, Rowan, Jonah, Wes, and even Nevaeh.

I learned to cope with it, receive it, and turn it into just another special memory that I will cherish forever. 

This is the last week of high school and everyone is beyond excited, this past month has been beyond hectic; I've been really busy.

Busy with finishing up schoolwork, final exams, hanging out with the whole group, supporting my brother through everything, maintaining a relationship, and staying in touch with Carter. 

I was also introduced to a guy by Cole at some party we went to a month or so ago, he's from the basketball team, his name is Maxwell Adams, and we started flirting from then on. 

A few weeks after that he kissed me and we started dating, and I couldn't be happier. 

I really hope our relationship goes well because I really like being with him. 

He's helped reduce the pressure of final exams these past few weeks and it made me fall so much harder for him. 

Max is the type of guy that radiates happy energy and has a very calming aura, it makes you want to be around him all the time, I love that about him. 

"Daydreaming about Maxy again are we?" Cole cooed before taking a seat in front of me, I roll my eyes and drop my hands... Oh shit, Maia.

"Motherfucker," Maia grunts as she lands flat on the lawn chair, I chuckle and then glare at Cole. 

"He'll be here any minute though so-" Cole smirks at me, I pick up my empty soda can and chuck it at him. 

It hits him straight on his forehead and he rubs it & frowns; "Babyyy, look at what Eliza did to me," he whines to Rowan who was removing her sandals.  

We were all in my backyard, we decided to meet up and have a hangout over here rather than at the bowling alley. 

Rowan smiles at me and winks, she leans down and plants a few kisses on Cole's forehead and then moves to face him. 

"All better?" She innocently smiles at him, with that he cups her jaw and gives her a gentle kiss on her lips. 

I've always admired those two, he's so soft & caring with Rowan, it melts my heart. They've been going strong ever since they got together, aww.
