it was the last week of summer break until high school starts, and i was going to be a freshman. every summer it happens; freshmen would be invited to a party on the last friday of summer break. this year it was decided to be hosted by calum hood, one of the coolest people that everyone knows about. i knew lots about him, considering he's so popular. he knew me as well, but we never talked. i had a feeling i wasn't going to be invited. my best friend, kaylie, was good friends with calum and had already gotten an invitation. just as i was thinking about the subject, i heard my phone vibrate. it was a text from kaylie.
"hey sana. have you gotten an invitation yet?" she asked.
"no. i don't think i'll be invited. a lot of freshmen have already gotten their invitations." i replied. i really wanted to go, but i wasn't going to make it sound like i was desperate.
"that's weird. maybe you'll get an invitation. i'll ask calum about it. don't worry though. he hasn't sent out some invitations to people," kaylie stated.
"okay. thanks fam. wanna come over?" i was bored and didn't want to think about the party way too much, so i asked her.
"sorry sana !! i can't right now. im helping out calum with the party. i'll come over tonight though. byeee," she replied.
"aww okay. have funn byeee," i said, and the conversation ended.
to get my mind off of things, i decided to take a walk outside.
"mom, is it okay if i go outside for a while?" i asked my mom.
"of course, just be safe."
i changed into a pair of black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, a light sweater, and a pair of black vans. i took my phone and earbuds with me as well. once i got outside, i put on guts by all time low onto my phone and started walking.
about 7 minutes into my walking, i heard a familiar voice scream out my name.
"hey sana!" i looked to my right to see one of my friends, nicole, wave to me with my other friend, mikyla. i smiled and walked toward them. once i got closer, i said hi back.
"have you gotten an invitation yet?" mikyla asked me.
"no, i haven't. what about you guys?"
"i got one yesterday. mikyla hasn't gotten one yet either," nicole said. that made me feel a bit better. i didn't feel so left out anymore. we all started walking together and talked about it more. that seemed to be the most talked-about subject around here lately so i just went with it.
"so are you two looking forward to seeing anyone special at the party?" i smirked as i asked the girls.
"nah. im just there for the food. you know me," mikyla said, laughing. we both looked at nicole smirking expecting the answer we want from her.
"oh stop it," she blushed. "yes, it's michael."
we all laughed while her cheeks got redder. we teased her more and laughed a lot. we ended up walking to the local avenue so we decided to get starbucks. nicole decided to pay for our drinks. while we were there, we found kaylie and calum sitting in a booth talking to each other. kaylie noticed us and told us to sit down with them. once we got our drinks we went to the booth and said hi to calum and her.
"hi nicole and mikyla. you're sana, right?" calum asked as he looked toward me.
"yep, that's me," i said back with a cheesy smile.
"oh, that reminds me," kaylie said, grabbing her bag as she looks for something in it. "here." she pulled out two bright blue cards that had my name printed on one of them and the other with mikyla's name on it. "calum told me to give them to you. i was going to give it to you when i would come to your place, but you're here now so...here." she smiled. i smiled back, and smiled at calum too.
