Then he slashed his claw.It was quiet.
I waited for a moment.
I could feel myself still breathing and thinking. Confused, I slowly pried open my eyes. I saw Woolf's terrified face, his eyes that were blue was turned back to his original lime green color and a single fresh tear rolled down on the side of his cheek.
"I'm.... I'm sorry, I did it again."
Woolf backed off and tried to head out for the exit but dropped down from heavy exhaustion. He kept his eyes wide open.
"A.."
I tried to say something but I couldn't let out the right words. I took a moment to take several sharp breathes and tried to speak again.
Just try to say some reassuring and calm words that everything is alright
"I think we're all good now right? Let's take a moment to uhhh explain WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED."
Woolf and Laff both flinched at my sudden outburst.
Okay, I was definitely NOT calm.
"Look, I'm sorry, I had a long day in the SMP building the Banana Blade and I was NOT expecting this."
I rubbed my temples and took more sharp deep breaths.
"I believe the neighbors must've heard us gentlemen, we should get out of here before anyone sees this..."
Laff waved around the ruined environment with broken wood boards and furniture.
"Mess."
He finished. I nodded in agreement and Woolf just curled tighter into a ball.
"You two go, and never come back here. I'm sorry you guys had to deal with this."
Woolf's voice croaked in slight sobs. Laff slowly got up with his good leg and winced. I came over to him and helped him up.
"Woolfster, you are not allowed to be like this, you'll be coming with us,"
Laff indicated towards himself and me.
"And What? Get yourselves killed by me? I don't think so."
Woolf declined immediately, his faced turned away from us.
"As a matter of fact, I might have an idea on what's going on with you."
Laff got a grip between the kitchen cabinets and had his bad leg held up.
"But first, I'm going to need some bandages before we ought to leave."
Woolf pointed towards the bathroom door.
"The first aid kit is in the bathroom in the cabinet. Grab it and just leave me. I'm not coming with you guys."
Laff shook his head at Woolf's stubbornness as I walked into the bathroom and came out with the first aid kit.
"Ya know how to wrap bandages at a wounded leg mate?"
I looked down at Laff's wounded leg, which had a nasty claw mark that exposed his flesh and shook my head.
"Aight, I'll have to do it myself then."
Laff carefully sat himself down and got to work with the first aid kit. Cleaning the blood off with wet cotton, added some medicine, and wrapped bandaged on his wounded leg.
"Cmon' Blaza, let's bring Woolf to the SMP, I know a place where he can stay as I figure out the main situation."
Laff steadied himself with his bandaged leg and started limping towards the door.
"But Woolf said he's not coming with us."
I objected, pointing at the miserable Woolf on the ground.
"Well, you'll have to be dragging him back to the car then. I would help but..."
Laff slowly moved his wounded leg and gestured towards the staircase leading to the exit. Showing how he couldn't really help.
"Really?"
I groaned and was about to hook my arm to Woolf when he clenched his teeth and shakily got up.
"Fine, if Laff knows what's wrong with me... I guess I'll come along with. I miss being normal."
Woolf's voice was unsteady as he tried to stand up properly.
"Do you need any hel-"
"No."
I didn't even finish my sentence and Woolf just shook his head in decline.
"I'll be fine, let's just go before I pass out."
He encouraged in a harsh tone that almost sounded like irritation than an encouragement. Then all of us went down the stairs to my car.
- - - - - -On the way down, Woolf looked like a deflated balloon about to fall dead, I was afraid he'll stumble down the stairs any moment. But surprisingly, Woolf managed, despite all his energy slowly draining out.
It took ten or twenty minutes before the three of us made it to my car. We were all lucky that no one was in shift at the hotel during that time. Strange, but good thing no one was there in the lobby or stairs. I unlocked the car with my keys and let Laff and Woolf settle themselves into the backseats while I buckled myself on the driver's seat then turned on the engine.
I waited till Laff and Woolf were buckled before driving off back to Meme's house with my maps on. It was night and the black sky were covered in dark gray clouds, I guessed that rain would be coming soon. That's usually what it means when there are so many clouds covering the sky.
"So... can anyone explain how one of you has like a freakish murderous dark side and the other has a weapon filled with suspicious mysterious darts???"
If I could've turned my head around to see and faced Laff and Woolf, I would. But I needed to keep my eyes focused on the road.
"I'll explain later, I'm really tired right now."
Woolf moaned as he had a hard time keeping his eyes open.
"Then go to sleep, it'll ease the exhaustion."
Laff suggested, shifting his leg into a comfortable position.
"No.. I can't go to sleep."
Woolf's tone turned dark and his wolf ears lowered down.
"Why can't you?"
I jumped in, wanting to be included in the conversation.
"It's because..."
Woolf was about to explain when suddenly, his body and face tensed with alert.
"Blaza, turn off your car lights."
Woolf commanded, his tone dead serious. Which, absolutely scared me.
"Why?"
I managed to ask, gulping.
"Someone's following us."
He answered, looking at the back of the seat. Laff also looked back. I turned off the car lights and took off my sunglasses and let my eyes adjust to the darkness. My knuckles chilled and my heart rate increased.
"Woolf's right, someone is following us."
Laff agreed in a whisper as he turned back to face the front. I looked at the car's side mirror to see a black car with its blinking lights beaming behind. My whole body tensed.
No way that car's actually following me
I turned to the right just as the map instructed and watched the car follow my movements.
Maybe it's going the same way as I am
I tried to reassure myself, feeling cold. I continued to follow the map's direction for about ten more minutes, and each time I turned and kept going towards my destination, the same car followed.
"Yep, it's definitely following us."
Woolf snarled at his confirmation.
"Wh.. what should I do?"
I gripped on the car wheel tighter, hoping that it'll ease my fear and anxiety.
"Give me the phone."
Woolf instructed. I waited to be on a smooth road before handing Woolf my phone.
"They seem to be closing in."
Laff observed from the back. I pushed on the car paddle harder to speed up the car. My brain felt dizzy, I didn't like people following me. It was creepy as many people have described it.
"Here, Blaza, follow this map,"
Woolf handed me back my phone.
"It should bring you to a nearby town. I think you can try to lose them from there."
I silently thanked Woolf and put my phone in a position where I can see it. The rest of the ride felt silent and tense, the town that I was about to reach would take another thirty minutes before I could get there. And I was starting to feel really nervous about this. If this were in a video game, I would've said something like:
HEY! WHAT ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME FOR CAR.
But this was real life, and it felt much more different than being in a video game, it was better to keep silent. Laff and Woolf will constantly look behind to check on the stalking car as I silently tried to calm myself again. I guess none of us could relax.
- - - - - -It felt like an hour when we reached the town. The town had small glowing bright yellow and white lights around the place, a church, restaurants, and other small stores could be seen. There were barely any people and cars out here.
"Okay, we're here now, but how am I going to get that car off our trail?"
I asked, desperately hoping that Woolf or Laff has an idea or a plan. Woolf shrugged while Laff was in a trance of thinking. I felt panic slowly building its way up to me.
Oh I really hope this will be over soon.
I drove around the town for a while, looking back to see with no surprise that the black car was still following from behind.
"I've got an idea."
Laff announced.
"What is it?"
Woolf and I both asked in union.
"Since there's barely people in the roads, I believe you can drive you car extremely fast and go around the town three more times before going through the forest located in your map."
Laff tapped on my phone to indicate the forest in the map. I took a small glance at where it lead and found that the forest lead to another different straight road. It didn't seem that far.
"Laff, you're the smart one here and you're giving us a obviously stupid and crazy idea?!"
Woolf exclaimed in disbelief, his arms flung out to empathize his words. And I had to agree, this was a crazy and maybe not so stupid but more like a life risking idea.
"There probably is a better idea than this but if no one can come up with any other plan, we I'll have to stick with this one."
Laff's voice sounded exhausted. It was late anyway, and Laff's physical and brain energy must've drained a lot from all the drama in Woolf's apartment about less than an hour ago.
"Argh.... "
Was all Woolf could say before he slumped against his seat.
"It's okay, I think I can make this plan work without killing all of us."
I accepted to the plan confidently, ignoring the slight edge in my voice.
"Better buckle up tight boys."
Laff tightened his seatbelt, so did Woolf and I before I started speeding the car up to its limit. I was worried that I would hit something and wouldn't be able to turn the car in time. But somehow, I managed to nail all three laps before crashing into the bushes and trees into the woods and out to the road. It felt so fast that I didn't even notice that the black car was no longer following.
"Blaza, the car's gone."
Woolf reported, and let out a sigh of relief as he relaxed on his seat. Laff nodded and settled comfortably on his seat.
"Oh... it's gone?"
I glanced back at the side mirror again to see no car, just the empty gray road. I let myself drive for a while before I could let myself accept that no one else was stalking. I let out a breath and felt my body un-tense.
"Phew.... I do NOT wanna do that again."
I flexed my fingers to get the adrenaline out of me and noticed a crack that formed on my car window.
Dang, probably hit a large branch.
I thought upsettingly and decided I'll have to find a way to fix it later.
"I'm going to rest, let's think about what happened earlier after when we are in a much better state."
Laff pulled his hair back and was about to take off his gas mask but resisted the urge to and closed his eyes to sleep.
"I'll just... stay awake."
Woolf mumbled as he leaned against the window, looking through at nothing interesting in particular.
"Ooooh, I got an idea, why don't I play some classic lo-fi or rock to calm us down and to sleep?"
I pulled out Spotify on my phone and started playing Lo-fi to slightly lighten up the mood. Woolf turned to me and gave me a grim look.
"Do whatever you want but just turn it down and don't play rock."
Woolf turned his attention back to the window.
"Please."
He added.
"Alright, soft lo-fi it is."
I decided as I lowered the volume and let a playlist of soft lo-fi play out for the rest of the ride.- - - - - -
Words: 2134I changed the scene entirely, and some points may not make sense but I'm actually quite proud of it.
I'm very excited to see how this story will get together once it's all written out!
