It was a Monday at Camp Campbell and everyone was not in a good mood, one because it was a Monday, two because while David was explaining the game they were gonna play it started raining, hard

Oh geez, well campers we might have to continue this inside for now until the rain clears up

David was always happy no matter what, even though he was getting soaked he still had that big goofy smile plastered to his face, as if it was pinned on

No David, no one wants to play your stupid little game, why do you think we all hate you? It's because you can't seem to comprehend the fact that all the kids don't want to be here!

David was hurt by this outburst, he knew he could be a little hard to be around, but the kids didn't hate him, did they?

He just wanted them to have fun during the summer, he teared up a little but it was hidden by the rain

Well, I'm... Sorry Max-

David paused, hesitant to say something

I just wanted you guys to have fun during the summer, I'm sorry you all hate me, I'll let you go back to your tents if you want

Max's expression changed slightly, from angry to guilty looking, maybe he had gone to far with David this time, but he had got what he wanted so why did he feel that way?

The kids slowly scattered to go to their respective tents to spend the rest of the day

-----the next day-----

There was a knock on the door of David's cabin, he yelled for the person to wait a minute and checked his face in the mirror, still red from crying all night, but it didn't really show

He slowly walked to his door put on his big smile and opened it

Hello, sorry for the long wait!

David put both of his hands up to indicate he was sorry,
Showing the unknown man in front of him the two scars on his hands by accident

It's quite alright, umm

Oh I'm-

Just then David was interrupted by a soccer ball to the face, knocking him back onto the floor

Sorry David! Max kicked the ball really hard

Yelled Neil, grabbing the ball and jogging back

David smiled but was holding his nose and had tears in his eyes

How about we continue this inside my cabin

Said David, gesturing to his cabin

So, your name is David?

Yeah, and you?

Daniel, is your nose okay?

David paused for a moment, then answered,

Oh yeah, well no but I have to run this camp, no time to cry about!

Daniel was confused, he was just a camp counselor, someone else had to be in charge, right?
