They all walked into the consultation room. The room had been converted back from kitchen to consultation room. Sam was already sitting at the table with a document and a large box next to him. "All of you sit down," he said as they entered. They all sat down at the table the same way they had the afternoon. "I see you have found your weapons," Sam continued, "Thank you, Jane, for helping. Anyway: today you are going to get not only your permanent weapon, but also a symbol of the team." Sam turned to Emma, "As you can see or as seen, the Four each have a tattoo: Robin a small fang, Alexa a clock, Jane an arrowhead and Sky a broken heart. Since you're part of the team now, too, you get to decide if you want one or not." "Eum, I think I'll skip that," Emma replied without looking at anyone. "Okay," Sam said shortly and continued, "In this bin are the symbols and items you can use to make your weapon recognizable. And by that I don't mean you have to color the weapons. No, I mean that you can put the symbols on the weapons and possibly put your own symbol on the weapon. I'm going to let you do this yourselves, because I think you'll enjoy it more than if I do it myself..." "Thank you, Sam" said Jane. "You guys have all night to work on it," said Violette. "You don't have to make dinner for tonight, Sam and I will do that for you. Since you are using the kitchen, we will use the other kitchen..." "There's another kitchen?!" asked Sky in surprise, but Alexa stepped on his foot and he remained silent. "Please don't burn your fingers," said Sam. "Okay, Sam," said Violette. "We need to get started on the food. Come." They both walked out of the room, leaving the five young people behind. Sam went to the second kitchen that was further down their hallway. Violette walked on to her room. She knew Sam was waiting for her, but she had to get something first. She opened the door to her room and walked in. She walked through to her nightstand that was next to her bed and opened the top drawer. She searched the cabinet and pulled out a small box. She opened the box, looked at what was inside and then walked back out. She closed the door to her room and walked to the kitchen. Sam was already putting pots and pans on the stove when she arrived. "Hey," Sam said as she walked up to him. Violette put the box on the kitchen island behind Sam and walked over to the cooking fire. "What's in there?" asked Sam curiously. "Nothing special," replied Violette and looked at Sam smiling. "Okay, what are we going to prepare for the dear children," Sam continued. "I was thinking of spoiling the kiddies," Violette said. "They have so much on their mind already that we sometimes forget they are only children, as you say..." "Haha, that's funny," said Sam, "but what do you want to make for them? It's evening and we've already eaten hot..." "Sandwiches?" replied Violette. "They can choose what they want on their sandwiches, we just have to get it ready." "So you choose the easy way?" said Sam with a smile on his face. "Neu..." said Violette. "Maybe..." She turned and walked to the refrigerator. She opened it and took out tomatoes, cheese, meat, lettuce and many other things. She put all those things on the kitchen island and took out two cutting boards and some knives. "All right," she said to Sam, "who does the vegetables and who does the rest?" Sam stood looking at her with his mouth open. "What?" asked Violette. "Is there something?" "No... I was just thinking that I'm glad we've been friends for so long. Don't you think so?" "Yes," she replied. "I used to wonder many times if I was ever going to get to know someone who might be my best friend for the rest of my life..." Violette began unpacking and washing the vegetables. Sam walked over to her and began to help her. "Let me do this," he said as Violette began to rinse the lettuce. Their hands collided and for a moment they remained frozen. Violette stepped back and took the rinsed tomatoes to the kitchen island and began to cut them. For a moment her gaze fell on the box she had taken from her nightstand. "Eum, Sam?" she asked suddenly. Sam had finished rinsing the lettuce and came over to her with a bowl. "Yes?" he said. "I have something else for you..." Violette took the box in her hand and held it out to Sam. "What is this for?" asked Sam slightly startled. "As you said just now, we've been best friends for a long time. I thought you could use these..." She handed the box to Sam. He took it from her and opened the box. It contained a small locket. Sam took the locket out of the box and held it in his hand. "It's the locket you used to wear during the missions," Violette said in a broken voice. "But I lost it, didn't I?" asked Sam with a lump in his voice. "How..." "I found him a few days after the mission..." said Violette. "Mission?" "Yes, the one from the Four three months ago. I was looking for something in the attic and suddenly saw that locket lying there..." Violette averted her gaze and continued cutting the vegetables, but noticed she was actually done. Sam walked around the kitchen island and came to stand next to her. He put a hand on her arm and stopped her from cutting. "Thank you, Violette," he said in a muffled voice. Violette noticed that he was paying very close attention to his words. She looked up and was suddenly so close to Sam that she could feel his breath on her face. "You're welcome?" she said and her voice skipped slightly. Sam tried to take the knife, Violette had just been holding, out of her hand. She let go of the knife and Sam put the knife down on the island. Sam took her face in his hands and whispered, "I think there are four of them watching us." Violette shrugged her shoulders slightly and said, "So what?" Sam leaned forward and kissed Violette lightly. Violette put her arms around his neck and pulled him toward her. She ran her hands through his hair. In the past, she had rubbed through his hair so often, she knew his hair was soft. Yet it felt different now. He felt stronger than before. She knew he had been through a lot when he was little. He knew all her secrets and she knew his. Sam put his hands on her back and pulled himself closer to him. Violette had never been happier than she was now. She hoped this could last as long as possible. She knew that sitting could last as long as possible. She heard voices behind her, but didn't pay attention. According to Sam, four people were eavesdropping on them, but she didn't much care. She focused on Sam and was happy. Suddenly, Sam detached himself and looked at her with a heated face. "I think we should get on with dinner," he said. Violette began to laugh. "What?" "Otherwise our food is never going to get done in time," someone said behind them. Sam and Violette immediately let go of each other and turned toward Robin. "Sorry," he said quickly when he saw their startled faces. "But otherwise it was going to get really bad here," continued Jane who was standing behind him. "It looked weird, honestly," Sky said. He and Alexa went to stand behind Jane n Robin. "You see there were four listening," Sam said to Violette. "It wasn't that interesting now," Robin said. "What I mostly remember is Sky saying 'oooeh', Robin 'mmmmhhh', me finally and Jane 'Iiiiieeeeuw!'" said Alexa. Everyone looked at her with a startled expression. "What, it's like that anyway!" Sky smiled and rest began to laugh as well. "Can we help with anything here?" asked Sky. "No, we can't," Sam replied, "We have everything under control..." "We could see that, yes," Robin said gruffly so no one heard him. Jane patted him on the back and walked over to the kitchen island. "Is this a Lapis Lazuli stone?" she almost exclaimed. Sam looked at the table and said, "Yes, and it's my locket..." "Cool!" replied Jane. "I used to always want one like that too..." "Super," said Violette, "but, you guys better go outside now or do the dishes. Your choice." The Four looked at each other and ran out of the kitchen. "That's me four, too, isn't it," said Violette. "Yeah..." said Sam and started putting the vegetables into jars.
