On the final evening of April, Serafina was standing before a large crowd of gathered guests in the Windsor Castle ballroom. It was the evening of the selection ball, the evening in which Alexander was going to choose his queen. Of course, she knew she was going to be his chosen queen, but no one else did. For that evening, she Lucy and Kate were wearing gowns of white silk with matching gloves and slippers. They all had caps leaves and a square neckline. They all had their hair up in elegant chignons.

Alexander was standing before the crowd, in front of the girls. He was wearing a black silk suit with a white button up shirt matching white cravat and black boots. He couldn't stop smiling as he glanced around at the crowd who was waiting for him to give his speech. He knew exactly who is queen was going to be, but was wanting everyone else to be surprised. He cleared his throat before addressing everyone in the room. "Thank you all for coming this evening, I cannot be more thrilled to have you here. As you know, for the last three weeks I've been given the opportunity to be in the company of these three lovely ladies behind me. With careful analyzation, and getting to know the girls individually, I was able to determine my future queen."

The group of gathered guests murmurEd quietly, their eyes intent on the future king of England as he continued speaking. All of them were anxious to find out who was chosen for the crown. Their eyes landed on each young lady behind him, analyzing them carefully.

Alexander continued. "And finally, after careful deliberation, and speaking with my father, I have decided who my queen is going to be."

Serafina and everyone else held their breath, waiting for him to say the words that would change everything.

Alexander turned, one hand outstretched. "My New queen is... Princess Serafina of the house of York!"

Serafina smiled confidently, ignoring Lucy and Kate as they glared at her, and stepped forward to take Alexander's hand. She knew from the moment she had met Charles, the several days she had spent with Alexander, that she was ready for this moment. She was ready to become his wife, his queen. She was ready to give him however many children he wanted. Her eyes traveled around the group of guests, all of them applauding rapturously for her, returning her smile.

Alexander's eyes seemed to dance as he turned slowly towards her, leaned forward, and brought his lips to hers for a sweet kiss. His arms intertwined around her waist, pulling her against him as her arms slid around his neck. At long last, he had his queen.

Serafina closed her eyes, kissing Alexander back with equal passion. Finally, after several weeks of having to wait, she had been chosen. She was his, and he was hers.

After a few minutes, the couple came away from one another, smiling brightly, and began the first of several dances for that evening. The entire ballroom was in a jovial mood, knowing that the Windsor throne was going to be secure. Musicians played, champagne and wine flowed. Savory food and sweet delights were served. Laughter and merriment exploded throughout the ballroom. A new chapter was just beginning. Everyone was anxious for the wedding and coronation of the future king and queen of England. They knew that, once those events took place, the English commonwealth, and everyone in it, was going to be in the best of hands. And everyone was anxious to find out what was going to be in store for the monarchy.
