It had been a little over ten years since Oswald and Edward parted ways. Daniel had gotten older and as Edward had expected had no memory of Oswald or his time in the manor.

A dark decollate room only lit by small battery-powered lamps and sunlight through one small window up in the corner of the room. There was a wardrobe across from the bed that was badly organized. A desk in the corner of the room below the window littered with notebooks, kid's drawing, and a few cassette tapes here and there. Suddenly a blanket was thrown into the floor as the eleven year old Daniel shot up out of bed. He slipped on his dark blue matted fuzzy slippers and ran across his room nearly slipping on a few papers on the floor. He jumped up onto his desk and pulled himself up against the ledge of the window where he had previously placed plastic dinosaurs, green army men, and a small plastic alien with glow in the dark UFO. Daniel peered out the window gazing at an empty parking lot, the part of the outside world he ever got to see. He saw some kids around his age playing with a bright red ball but then they looked up at the sky and left. Daniel finally noticed that it started to rain. No, it wasn't rain it was snow which made Daniel very happy. He jumped down from the desk with a wide grin on his face and ran out of his room. He ran down the hall as fast as could into his father's work shop. He quickly stopped and looked around the floor for lose screws and possible things that could hurt him then carefully made his way over to his father, who was slumped over his desk passed out on some blueprints. "Dad! Dad!" Said Daniel as he shook his father's shoulders. Edward yawned and sat up fixing his glasses. "Dad you remember what today is right?" Asked Daniel with a grin on his face.
"Tuesday?" Asked Edward as Daniel sighed rolling his eyes.
"Dad!" Said Daniel as Edward threw up his hands.
"Fine, yes I know it's your birthday. I used to be able to get you with that." Stated Edward as he stood.
"Yeah when I was like six! I'm eleven now!" Said Daniel as he puffed out his chest feeling proud of being much older. "You remember what you promised right?" Asked Daniel with a solomon tone because this was not the first birthday he was promised this but he hoped it would finally happen.
"Yes, I remember Daniel." Stated Edward as he looked out the window. "Everything looks fine, alright this year yes you can finally go outside, but there are a few rules." Stated Edward as he walked over to his son. "You stay by my side at all times, you keep your mouth shut unless someone addresses you but if they your polite and respectful, and lastly do not touch anything. You think you can follow all that?" Asked Edward as Daniel quickly nodded.
"Absolutely!" He said with an assured tone.
"Good, now go get bundled up it's cold out there." Said Edward as he patted the top of Daniel's head. Daniel rushed to his room and got on his winter jacket and boots then rushed out while Edward was still putting on his boots. "You're really excited about this aren't you?" Asked Edward as he smiled at his son.
"Of course this is the first time I get go outside, ever! And this first you're gonna keep your promise." Muttered Daniel as Edward sighed.
"I always intended to keep my promise just things that I had no control over changed." Stated Edward sternly as Daniel rolled his eyes at his father.
"You promised me I'd get to leave for the last 7 birthdays, 5 Christmas's, and 18 other random occasions in total that's 30 different occasions in my life where I've been disappointed by the only person in my life!" Barked Daniel as Edward sighed angrily.
"Like I said things changed." Stated Edward as he stood grabbing his jacket. "But now I'm actually doing what I promised you so do you really want to take the chance of changing my mind?" Asked Edward knowing there was nothing in the world that would change his mind on what he was going to do today but nonetheless he wanted to see if Daniel truly was in the mood to pick a fight with him. The boy glared at his father for a moment then hung his head with a sigh.
"No." He muttered as Edward grinned at his genius.
"Good, now let's go." Stated Edward firmly as as he walked towards the door unlocking the various different locks on the door then he opened it. Daniel looked out seeing a brick stairwell with various corroded posters on the wall, the one he most noted was a poster that read "Oswald Cobblepot for Mayor! Make Gotham Safe Again!"
"Who's Oswald Cobblepot?" Asked Daniel as Edward smiled.
"An old friend and today your going to meet him." Stated Edward with a happier tone than he had ever spoken to Daniel with before.
"Is he actually the mayor?" Asked Daniel in a bit of excitement as they turned and headed out to the city.
"No but he used to be." Stated Edward softly as they walked into a street seeing the tall buildings tower over them. Daniel stared at city around him finding even the Narrows to be interesting.
