I walked to Azalea's room after I had finished packing. I still couldn't believe that I was going to a school for magical creatures. I knew I was only going because I was Azalea's guard but I couldn't help but be excited. I leaned against her door frame and watched her put her stuff into the trunk.
"Hey, Iris. How are you?" said Azalea.
"I'm good. I'm just super nervous because we haven't left this place before," I said. Azalea nodded her head. She knew why I was nervous but I still said it out loud.
"I'm nervous to but what matters is that we are in this together to the end. After all we have always had each other's back," she responded. She was right of course. As long as we had each other we would be able to do anything we put hearts to. I pushed off the wall and helped her close her trunk. I went to leave as her brother walked in but he stopped me by putting his arm out. I playfully glared at him and he just pushed back causing me to fall onto Azalea's bed. I playfully growled at him but he ignored it. I was confused because he usually always did it back to me and then tackle me. I looked at Azalea and she looked at me. I shifted into Midnight and tackled him this wasn't the way her brother usually acted. I started growling at him this time I wasn't playing.
"Easy Iris. It's just a clone," said the real one he pressed his wrist band and the clone disappeared. I shifted back and he just gave me a nervous smile. He knew that my wolf didn't like to be messed with. The queen had learned that the hard way (in other words she hit her head on the ground and was knocked unconscious by me). Anyways I just continued to glare, but by know it was a playful one, at him until he realized that I was messing with him. He burst out laughing and just tackled me to the ground. I growled playfully at him and he just chuckled. I heard Azalea laughing and I looked at her. she was bent over with laughter and I just grinned. I got up and grabbed her suitcase and took it down stairs as they finished laughing. I was putting the suitcase in the car when the seelie queen walked up to me.
"Hello your majesty," I said
"Iris you know you don't have to call me that. You are a subject of my court," she said.
"Yes ma'am. Did you need something?" I asked.
"I wanted to give you this since you won't be here for your warrior graduation or should I say assassin graduation ceremony," she said handling me a long sword made of celestial steel with a handle made of reinforced iron woven with sacred bronze. It felt well balanced in my hand and I could hold it with one hand. I swung it carefully so as not to hurt the queen. It was light but strong. I could tell that it was durable and could withstand a great deal but then I remembered that we weren't allowed weapons at school until our second year. She gave me a knowing smile and handed me the school's rule book.
"Page 37. Section 8. Rule 17," she said the book opened and went right to the page and magically highlighted the line that the queen had said. I read it to myself.
Anyone who is tasked with protecting a royal member of the group they were raised in shall be permitted to bring a weapon no matter what year they are however if not then they must wait until their second year to carry a weapon.
When I realized what this meant I froze I looked at the queen.
"Your new task is to protect Azalea from any harm that should come to her on your journey," said the queen. This was going to be a three day journey. We were going to go through some of the toughest terrain so I knew that anything could happen to either one of us. I teleported my stuff down from my room and put it into the car. Azalea came down and saw the sword. She knew I had been working hard to earn a weapon so when she saw it she squealed and I covered my ears with a glare.
"Congrats, Iris," she said as she tried to hug me. I dodged her by dropping and rolling to the right. I watched as she glared at me and shrugged my shoulders. I have never been much of a hugger. We got in and I drove us to the school. It took us three days to reach there and when we arrived the school headmaster met us. I stood at attention as he greeted Azalea. He greeted me with a test of reaction. I had him pinned on the ground with a dagger to his throat. I had my knee in his chest and one of his hands pinned under my foot. He tapped my shoulder in surrender. I let him up and went to sheathe my dagger when someone stopped me. I twisted my wrist grabbing their's in the process and twisting it behind their back and pushing them against the wall. I felt someone's hand touch my pressure point and I fell asleep someone caught me in their arms but darkness took over before I could even register what was happening.
