"Uhh, where's Joie?"Caren and Andi sauntered through the private elevator of my penthouse, while I approached with mimosas. It was our girl's day, and I expected all four of us.
Joie has always been down for our turn-ups. Despite majority of them ending in arguments. So for her not to be in attendance was questionable.
Andi swallowed her entire mimosa, getting a eyebrow raise out of me. "Got another?"
Caren and me watched Andi walk to the kitchen. "What's wrong with her? Joie's okay, right?"
"She's fine.." Caren assured, easing my worry. "At least I think."
"You think?"
"Honestly.. I haven't seen Joie in a while," Caren confessed. "I called the other day and she was off the phone quick. Pretty weird. And as for Andi, she didn't talk the entire way here."
We went to the kitchen with Andi, who was knocking back the whole bottle of champagne. "Uhh, something you want to talk about Ands?"
She pulled the bottle from her mouth, catching her breath. "What does Xavier's father look like?"
The question was directed to Caren. She was confused by it, but still answered. "Exactly like Xavier. He just have a salt-and-pepper beard."
"Kory?"
"Kory Grant, yeah." Caren confirmed. "Why you asking me this?"
"Joie's.. my sister." Andi announced.
I chuckled awkwardly. "I mean, we're all sister's."
"She's my blood sister. Same father." That was hell of a confession. It definitely sat me and Caren down for a further explanation. "We found out, like, last month. Tanika told her that Winston's her father and that's why she would always disappear. Goons from Sensual House looking for her just like my birth mother Lizzie. Kory, I met him at the Gordon's brunch and he just kept staring at me. As if he knew me."
An old article about Xavier's birth parents came to mind. "Xavier's mother and father are a madam and pimp, right? Does that mean that Kory guy runs that Sensual House?"
