Gorou's confession: a kokorou/goroumi one shot

Gorou's confession

After a long day of work, gorou finally got time to relax. 

"Finally, I have time to myself. No more people teasing me, no more work, just me." He sighed. 
The general was exhausted. He walked down the road and sat down by the shore.  Listening to the sound of waves certainly calms him down and makes him feel at ease. 

He would've invited the divine priestess to join him for a walk but he didn't have the guts to. Recently, his heart started beating so fast whenever he was around sangonomiya kokomi. He knew he was in love with her and he really wants her to know that. But is it worth confessing to her if their friendship can fall apart? What if she doesn't feel the same way? Will she feel uncomfortable? He knows he'll have to tell her since he can't get her out of his head.

If only I can gather the courage to confess to her, gorou thought to himself. He closed his eyes to relax, trying to meditate. But it's hard when all he can think about was kokomi. Maybe I should go swimming instead, it might get her off my mind. And boy was he wrong.

As he walked towards the sea, someone tapped him on the shoulder. "Gorou? what are you doing here?" He turned around to see non other than Sangonomiya kokomi herself. Gorou froze. "k-k-k-k-k-kokomi???" His body was shaking. "woah there! are you okay? you look scared? Did I give you a fright?" she giggled.

"I was about to swim, do you want to join me?" 

"No thank you. As much as I would love to I still have work to do." 

Gorou sighed. He knew she was busy.

"are you sure? Please, take a rest. "

"I guess work can wait.... but.... I can allow myself to rest for 10 minutes. The amount of work I need to do is a lot.... I can't afford much time to relax." Kokomi hesitated.

Gorou let out a soft smile. "Trust me, you won't regret taking a break. And if you need any help with work you can always ask me."

Kokomi chuckled. "Helpful as always general gorou. I appreciate the help." 

She let out a soft smile and grabbed gorou's hand. "actually, I do want to discuss something with you if you don't mind."
"Is it about work? We're here to relax, not talk about work." He then looked down to see kokomi grabbing his hand. He shook off kokomi's hand.

"Actually, it's not about work. I just thought I can talk to you about it. You know, as friends!" she beamed.

"yeah... as friends." He hates being friend-zoned but he can't let himself confess his feelings just yet.

"Gorou let's talk for a moment. We have a lot to catch up on. We haven't talked like this for a while. You know, just the two of us as friends. So what have you been up to recently?"

"w-well uhm... nothing much, just the usual. Although I've been distracted quite a lot lately." Gorou realised what he just said. "distracted..? no,I'm not distracted. I'm just... tired.. I guess?"
Oh great, now she'll think I don't focus in work.

"Gorou..If there's anything you want to talk about you can talk to me about it!"

Is this the right time? I mean, there's not much of a chance it'll just be the two of us anyway, might as well tell her.

"It's nothing serious, really. I'm just... I... well.." He can't seem to find the right words to use. "If anything is distracting me... well I... I just.. I can't stop thinking about this girl. She lives in my head rent free and I think I've fallen in love with her..." 

He looked up to see Kokomi shocked. "G-gorou is in love ? You're in LOVE? " She looked a bit disappointed. "Well you should probably confess to her and get her off your mind! I-I mean only if you want to, of course.Or make the first move!" 

"I am going to. But she's really clueless it's her you know. It's hard to confess but I'm doing it anyway..." he stopped. "Wait did you say...make the first move?"

"Y-yeah I did."

"Here goes nothing."

"gorou what do you mean here go-" before Kokomi could finish her sentence,her face was suddenly so close to gorou's. It seemed like he was going to kiss her but he didn't.

"No.... I can't do this..." gorou mumbled to himself.

Kokomi sat there in silent as gorou returned to sitting down beside her.

 What just happened? Did he try to kiss me? He did. Oh my god that means...  kokomi smiled to herself.

The general got up and apologised. "sorry....I'll get going now I guess." He was about to leave but kokomi grabbed his hand. "Wait... Gorou, don't leave just yet" She got up and hugged him. 

"say, who do you love romantically?"

"you...." 

"I love you too." 

gorou hugged her back. He could not believe his ears. 

"It's not a dream right?"

"it's not."

Gorou smiled to himself and kissed the divine priestess on the lips.
