"Keren, wake your ass up!"
I woke up to the sounds of my mother rummaging through my room,
"You have school in 20 minutes. Do you know how many times you've been late?" She kissed her teeth.
I barely had my eyes opened, I could feel the sunlight's rays peeking through my blinds.
"Fine. Just get out when I'm changing."
"Oh and by the way,"
My mother turned around, a hand over a laundry basket with the clothes I had on the ground for who knows how long.
"Do me a favour and pick up some flowers for grandma will ya?"
"She doesn't even like flowers." I replied, rubbing my eyes.
"It's her birthday, just get her flowers, she wouldn't really care."
I rolled my eyes as a sign of acceptance.———————————————————————
I get changed into the hoodie I always wore, with baggy jeans and torn up air forces.
"Oh shit, I forgot about last week's homework." I puffed out.
I'd always been a straight A student. But ever since I've started hanging out with Mary, I could tell for a fact it impacted me a lot. But she was a great friend, even though her "cold personality" is a total faux.I jogged downstairs as I smelled the sweet aroma from the kitchen.
"Morning Keren!"
My brother Micheal says. Sometimes, I feel like Micheal and I are the ones against the whole world. I love him with every piece of my heart and it would shatter me seeing him struggle. That's why I try to make his childhood the best, something that was taken from me too soon.
"Morning Mike." I kissed him on his cheek, taking a whiff of his sweat.
"My god Micheal when was the last time you showered."
Micheal side eyes me,
"Your acting like you haven't been staying in your room all day with trash everywhere because all you can think about is Hunter Schafer!"
I pause.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
But actually, I knew exactly what he was talking about. Hunter was the only thing I could think of, and he never left my mind. He may never know I exist but who cares, I'll stare at him from a distance for the rest of my life.
"Yeah yeah, hurry up before mum scolds you of being late again."
I take a pancake in my mouth and yank my bag out of my storage shelf.
"Bye Micheal, love you!"
"You too!"
As I stepped outside, I was hit with a cold breeze.
Weather sure is bipolar these days.
I thought to myself.
I walked past Tracey's Bakery, waving a hello to the owner before trodding off.
I plugged my earphones in. Music was the only way I could escape from reality. It makes me feel as if I'm the only person on Earth, and really, I liked that.
"Oh yeah, the flowers."
I took a sudden turn, remembering that I had to buy flowers for grandma.Sweet Creature?
I scoffed. Since when did they change the local flower shop name.
I walked inside, the bell ringing as the strong smell of different sorts of florals lingered in the air.
I picked up a random bouquet of flowers, I couldn't care less.
I took it up to the counter and searched for coins in my school bag.
"That'll be $2 please."
An unfamiliar voice spoke.
I didn't care who it was but boy did they really pressure me into finding 2 dollars.
"Can you hurry up? I literally don't have all day."
"Yeah just one second."
I replied, subtly rolling my eyes.
I could hear the man in front of me sigh and kiss his teeth as he slowly lost patience.
"Look, if you don't have the two dol-"
"Can't you see I'm fucking looking for it?"
I cursed out nonchalantly. Then I realised what I did as I put a hand over my mouth in embarrassment.
"Sorry I didn't mean to-"
I finally looked up to see who the man I just casually cursed to.
He cocked his head to the side as strands of his chocolate brown hair shook softly. His eyes green like envy. His face was perfectly sculpted by Gods as his lips, a pale red, looked very kissable.
I blinked.
It was long before I realised I had been staring at this man who I just met, arguing with, fighting with, over 2 dollars. And with my mouth agape.
"Enjoying the view?" He smirked, a tongue poking the inside of his cheek. I could tell he really liked my reaction.
"Here's your 2 dollars,"
I slammed the money on the counter and left without turning back.
"Bitch"
I heard a whisper from behind.
Trying to not be late for school again, I tried to let it go.
"What a cunt."
I blurted out.
