    Lily was sitting at her dining table eating her lemon-Rosemary chicken breast her mother had cooked up and Cesar salad her mother made whipped together. Lily's mother had not shifts for the next three days, She took her time grocery shopping that afternoon and made dinner. It was weird to Lily and Belch to sit around the dining table in their designated seats and actually eat like a family. But no one made any comments and sought out to start a conversation  . But by the time they were all almost finished with their meals , Belch and Lily's mother spoke up.

"School is starting up soon, do you need to go shopping, Lily?" She asked, Lily nodded not wanting to talk with her mouth full of the delicious chicken she was eating. Once she had swallowed the chicken and placed her fork down onto her plate.

" Yeah a few things" 

"Ok, I'll give you some money and you can go shopping for what you need" her mother said, sipping on her water.

" School starts next month , I could just go shopping before hand" Lily said. Her mother scoffed

" No, by then most stuff would gone, better to prepare ,Lily"

" Not many kids are going school supply shopping , most of them just re-use stuff from last year"

"Really re-use stuff? Fine then you could do that if it's so jolly" Her mother retorted

"I never said I wanted too, mom" Lily said annoyed

" Then what do you want, Lily"? Her mother asked raising her eyebrow . 

" I just need a few new notebooks and pencils . . . that's all" Lily said , her eyes averted to the table.

"Fine, I'll give you a couple bucks, then hopefully you'll figure what to do next-"

"Reginald honey, do you have a job?" she asked her son in a more calmer tone then she did with her daughter. 

" Yep" Belch responded curtly

" Good, you're gonna have to start pulling your weight around here if your going to continue staying under my roof as an adult. " she explained as she ate the rest of her food. 

    Dinner was shortly finished and they parted their ways silently , Lily went to her room and Belch went to the garage to work on his car. Their mother cleaned the dishes and watched television in her room before dozing off into slumber. 

    Lily was reading a romance novel when her phone started to ring on her bedside table. She jumped in surprise, her mind fading away from her imagination she was creating while reading the inciting story. She quickly picked up the phone and waited for someone to talk. 

"I'm coming over. . ." a voice said curtly, She had a feeling she knew who is was, Patrick . But his voice sounded low and different over the phone. 

"I'm sorry what?" Lily asked 

"it's Patrick, I'm coming over. Open your bathroom window " Patrick said

" oh . . . ok" Lily responded .  The other line disconnected before Lily could say anything further. Lily huffed in annoyance . She got up from her bed and walked into her bathroom , Opening the bathroom window . She went back to her place in bed and continued on reading her romance novel.  It had been probably over thirty minutes when she heard rustling come from her bathroom. She placed her book mark into the book, got up and stood at the doorway of her bathroom. She watched Patrick struggle getting his tall lanky body through the small window.
