My Emerald: A movie!Knuckles x reader story

~Chapter 2~

I was on the verge of being found out, but to my surprise someone spoke to Sonic, keeping him back. The voice that spoke was deep, but kind of... nice. My pale face soon heated up. I ran behind the nearest tree and watched. Turns out it was Knuckles who held Sonic back.

"I suggest we refrain from investigating, whatever it is could be dangerous," he stated, getting Sonic to move away from the bush. I sighed in relief. I've escaped this time...

A few hours later, dusk was drawing nearer. I watched the sunset from my hiding place, staring in awe at the golden-orange colours in the sky. One thing this place was amazing for was its wonderful sunsets, and almost every night I try to remove myself from my hiding spot to watch the colourful display. 

Today would normally be no exception, but after the incident earlier, I can't take any chances.

That is until something caught my eye. It was a small object, but it was too far away to acknowledge what it was. I was on the edge of walking up to it, but of course I held back. It could be a weapon. Or something that either Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles dropped earlier, meaning that they could come back for it anytime now...

But... What harm will it really do to take a look?

I decided to investigate, despite the reason not to. My curious nature began to take over, and I removed myself from my safe spot, gingerly walking towards the item. Upon closer inspection, it was a small, simply-designed gadget, painted yellow. The good thing was that it looked harmless. I picked it up, looking around my surroundings for others, since I was now out in the defenceless open. It still looked harmless even in my hands, and I decided to place it back.

But as I placed it back where it was before, I heard the rustling of leaves, closely approaching footsteps, and a familiar voice.

"H-hey! What are you doing? Who a-are you?" The voice spoke.

For the second time today, my face went pale. I turned my head quickly in the direction of where the voice came from, and my body froze.

It was Tails. He's watching me. What do I do now?...
