The first place I thought Uncle Felix and Aunt Lucy would be was the Drawing Room, however, the others thought to search Father's office first. I tried to convince them to go to the Drawing Room first but they all seemed determined. "Fine." I had said. "But if they're not there we are going straight to the Drawing Room!"
We went to the Father's office and we saw Chapman dusting some of the shelves with Father's shooting trophies. "Oh, hello Miss Wells and her friends," He said in a wheezy voice. "Your Father is in the Drawing Room with your Aunt and Uncle." I turned around to Hazel, Alexander and George. "HA!" I whispered. "Told you so!" Hazel just ignored me and asked Chapman, "Have you seen Hetty? None of us including Mrs Doherty have saw her all afternoon." I have to admit, my Watson has been getting more bold and confident lately which is amazing. I've been going on at her to be more confident and assertive and not to just fall into the shadows. I'm so glad that she is starting to do just that. "No, the last time I saw her was this morning at around half eleven before you and Miss Daisy came. She did look like she was in quite a hurry too." Me and Hazel looked at each other, thinking the same thing. What did she need to do in such a hurry? Did she need to meet someone? If so, why did she not tell anyone? "Okay thank you for telling us, sir! Come on, let's go to the drawing room." Alexander said the last part quietly so only we could hear it. We all then walked out into the hall.
"HA!" I exclaimed. "I was right!" George rolled his eyes at that (how dare he!) and said, "Yes, we're aware, Daisy, but thanks to Chapman being in there and Hazel asking him if he's seen Hetty, we now know that she was last seen by Chapman at around half eleven this morning and she was in a haste too." As he was saying this, Hazel had took out her new casebook and has started writing. "Maybe she just went out to get some messages?" Alexander enquired. "No, O'Brien is the one who usually goes to the shops to get stuff." I replied, still thinking about everything. Where could Hetty be? "Right! Let's head off to the Drawing Room then, shall we?"
In the Drawing Room, we saw Uncle Felix, Aunt Lucy and Father sitting talking to each other. "Daughter! Daughter's friends!" Father boomed across the room. "Sorry I forgot to tell you but Mother's visiting a friend of hers in London so she won't be here for a while." Mother and her friends. Let's hope this one isn't like Mr Curtis. "Oh okay." I replied. "Have any of you saw Hetty recently? None of us have seen her all afternoon." Aunt Lucy was the only one who spoke. "Hetty? No, the only time I saw her today was when we arrived at ten o'clock this morning. What about you?" She said turning to look at Uncle Felix and Father. "The only time I saw her was with you Lucy." Uncle Felix replied and right after Father added, "I haven't saw her all day. She's the one with the mousy hair, right?" So far Chapman was the last person to see Hetty. "Okay, thank you! We'll be on our way now." I said and just as we were about to leave Uncle Felix shouted after us, "Don't go about investigating her now!" Well too late because we are already investigating. You can't stop detectives doing what they're best at.
"So, the last person to see Hetty was Chapman." I stated once we were out in the hall. "Wait, did Mrs Doherty say when she last saw her?" Hazel asked looking up from her casebook. "Oh, she didn't now that you bring it up! Great work Watson!" I said as I beamed at her and she beamed back. Times like this remind me that I am super grateful that Hazel is my best friend. Just after I said that, Mrs Doherty came bustling up from the kitchens. Just our luck, I thought. "Mrs Doherty!" I exclaimed, getting her attention. "Yes, dear?" she said. "Do you know when the last time you saw Hetty was?" I asked her. "Hmm, it must have been in around ten past eleven. Now,I really need to go and sort out stuff upstairs so if you would excuse me." Mrs Doherty replied and went upstairs. "That means since Chapman was the last person to see Hetty, she has been missing for... three hours!" Alexander said checking his watch and Hazel recorded it down. "Well then!" I exclaimed. "It looks like we have a missing person case in our hands!"
