Pov: Carter

She holds me tightly and I feel safe in her arms.

I notice her hair is a little messy from last night, and the rise and fall of her chest match her slow breathing pattern.

I watch as her heartbeat catches up to mine, as though our bodies are reacting simultaneously to the warmth that's now encircling us.

Both of our bodies are buried beneath the covers, but I can see her silhouette from under me, in the dim light peeking through the covers.

The little light entering the room made her face glisten, highlighting every single one of her beautiful features along with every little bead of sweat on her forehead.

Her lips, they're so soft, softer than anything, and everything. I gently shift myself so I can place my palm on her jaw and run my thumb over her soft lips.

After lightly kissing her lips, and silently breathing in and out, I close my eyes for a moment and let myself remember this. Take in everything, her, her love, my love for her.

It's us, Lilah and me, and I couldn't be happier.

When I open my eyes, I see her slowly opening her eyes, a small smile spreading across her lips.

"Good morning amore mio," she whispers to me, and I press my chest against hers, my heartbeat starting to pace with hers again.

Her lips find their way and place soft kisses on my collarbone up to my jaw, I'm so consumed in the devotion I have for her that I don't even notice until I feel myself shudder under her delicate touch.

Oh god, I really love her, I can't tell if I want to spend my entire life being loved by her or spend my entire life loving her with everything I have.

I think I'll do both.

I honestly never had a home, growing up, I never had a safe place to call home or a person to rely on to give me one.

But right now, I can say that I found a home between her arms, encased in her love for me, and laced through her words.

Home was us.

Even as years passed and seasons changed, our love may have been unknown and may have gone cold.

But we stayed, we hoped that one day we might unite, and we did.

We fed the flame because we couldn't let go, and our love went up in flames, in the best way ever.

"I love you so much," I mumble, and then I repeat it again, a bit louder, near her ear, her forehead, against her lips. I need her to know.

"I love you the most, I realized what love was when I looked at you for the first time, you know that?" she lets out a soft giggle and tells me as she leans against my chest.

I didn't need to say anything because her words made my heart swell, instead, I hug her, and hold her in my embrace, actions speak louder than words I guess.

"We need to get up, it's already late," she groans and slips out from under me, fisting the bedsheet & holding it up to cover her bare body.

I roll my eyes and smirk, grabbing the bedsheet and exposing her, she gasps and loses her balance.

Falling on top of me once more, I burst into laughter and slam my lips onto hers, unlike before our kiss is filled with passion & lust instead of care & sensitivity.
