“well is it easy?” Chelsea asked hesitantly, picking up her fork and scooping up what was left of the greyish mashed potatoes. It was the question on her mind, as well as Mia’s and Anthony’s. Mr. Smith had been one with pop quizzes, constantly seeming to come from nowhere. He was also the only one who seemed to care about the seventh-grade class. Chelsea had grown accustomed to the random quizzes each week by now. seeing as it was in the middle of March, meaning it was in the 4th quarter already. “well, it certainly isn’t short, but it wasn’t too difficult.” Charlotte had stated, twirling her spaghetti with her fork, seemingly bored. “easy for you to say, you’re an A honor-roll student.” Anthony had added. He wasn’t wrong, Charlotte, better known as Charlie by her friends, was a perfect paragon of a student.
She had straight blonde hair with hazel colored eyes. the brown at the center of her eyes fading to a darkish green at the edges. She wore her hair in a tight ponytail- her signature look. Her outfit’s constantly screamed cheerleader, which is exactly what she was. She was the captain of the cheer squad to be exact. All the other cheerleaders where jealous of her, and for good reason. She had stunning and beautiful features, and she did everything so smoothly and fluently. she would always wear white Nike’s, a cute blouse with butterflies- all a different color of purple, pink and blue with the background of the shirt a solid white. Her jeans where skin-tight and she had a pink bow on the top of her ponytail. She was kind to everyone who she met, she was perfect in Chelsea’s eyes. but in reality, no one was perfect. Chelsea was Charlie’s best friend, and Charlie’s, hers. They where
inseparable, but Chelsea felt slightly insecure when compared to her. Chelsea was almost average in every way. Brown, mousy-like hair. always down
and parted in the middle. Blue dull eyes and a black and red “THRASHER” hoodie with jeans one size to big for her. She wasn’t insecure about her body or her
clothes, but she felt small in a way compared to Charlie. “but aren’t you quarterback of the football team? Your strength might not be biology, but you
have some serious talent on the field!” Charlie complemented Anthony, shaking Chelsea out of her thoughts. Anthony was indeed on the football team, but he wasn’t your average high school jock. He was a tall, dark haired boy with baby blue eyes who wore his team jacket every day, that stated “go jackrabbits!” with a grey and white jackrabbit on the back. The mascot was supposedly named “Jackie the jack rabbit” and wore the same red and black jersey jacket that all the football players wore. When he wasn’t playing football, Anthony wore loose-fitting jeans and steel-toed cowboy boots, as well as sporting a black beanie. He had a rosy complexion with freckles. Constantly caring for others, he would help out at local nurseries and animal shelters. He did it for college credit, but he mainly did it out of the kindness of his heart. He loved playing football, but he was an amazing singer and his friends made sure he knew it. Unfortunately, out of all of them, he was insecure. He loved his friends and family, but wanted to help more. Even if he never let them see it, his friends knew how he really felt about himself. “I mean yea, but how is that gonna help me pass this test?” Anthony asked rhetorically, picking up his tray to go throw it away. the others in the friend group followed, talking along the way. “well anyway, thanks for the heads-up Charlie, it means a lot” Mia proclaimed, changing the subject. “I guess I should’ve paid
attention more in class, I need to start taking my A.D.H.D meds again.” Mia half-heartedly joked. Mia was a small meek girl. With blonde hair and bangs. She
wore her hair down constantly. She had beautiful pale green eyes. She loved wearing skirts and was the head of the yearbook committee and the journal club. She aspired to be a writer, possibly writing her own stories in the future. She wore
a black long sleeve shirt, a black belt and a blue-jean skirt. She wore black high heels and brown glasses. She was the shortest person in the group, but nobody underestimated her, she was quite strong. her father owned a wrestling ring and he made a point to teach her how to fend for herself. “same here, I wonder if he’ll give us extra credit if we flunk?” Gracie had wondered aloud. Gracie had a beautiful dark-toned complexion, with long curly black hair and dark brown eyes the color almost completely black like her pupils.
Gracie was tall for her age, about as tall as Anthony. She was a very talented cook, and her mother ran her own bakery, which Gracie had worked at after school. She wore a black Adidas jacket with a white shirt, she wore pale blue ripped jeans and
black work shoes. “you know Mr. Smith, he’s a kind man. I’m sure he’ll give us something to make up for it if we flunk.” Anthony stated. “but I’m sure at least one
of us will pass.” Chelsea said, eyeing and nudging Charlie with her elbow. “ow!” Charlie exclaimed. “ok first of all, your just mad that I actually do my work, and second of all, didn’t I tell you to study, he does this almost every week.” She exclaimed laughing. They always did this, they bickered back and forth jokingly, never fully breaking out in argument. It was like an inside joke between the two. Out of all of them, Charlie and Chelsea where the closest. They have known each other ever since they where in diapers. Their fathers had worked together, key word being “had”. Chelsea’s father had died in a car crash when she was 10, he was a mechanic. Working for other companies around town, but mainly at a place named Freddy
Fazbear’s Pizza. She loved that place, she visited every Saturday when her dad had to make repairs to the broken games and sometimes her favorite part of the attractions, the robots on stage. Others viewed her as strange because despite the other children not liking the robot’s at Freddy Fazbear’s, who would either not mind them or leer away from them, she was like her father; she loved them and wanted to be just like her father and work to help bring magic to Freddy’s by repairing and perhaps making new friends for the band. Charlies father was also a mechanic, working with Chelsea’s dad on whatever needed fixing. They worked for the same company. So, while their dads would work, they would play at Freddy’s. laughing the day away, and when given the opportunity, she watched her father make repairs. She loved watching them make repairs on the robotic animals. But Charlie was the opposite, the first time Charlie saw her and Chelsea’s father remove the bears endoskeleton, she screamed and ran. She never when into the backrooms ever again. claiming that they were “hurting” the bear. Freddy was Charlie’s favorite apparently. She said he was the best because he was a talented singer and at the time she wanted to be a singer one day. Chelsea would disagree. Bonnie was the coolest to her, he had a sick guitar and had a
cool-guy type of personality. He was confident in everything he did and acted like he was the best. To Chelsea, it was a funny type of personality to give a character in her eyes. “did you hear me?” someone had asked, shaking Chelsea out of her thoughts. “what?” Chelsea had asked, confused. “I said, did you hear me?” she looked up to see Charlie staring down at Chelsea, who was still sitting. Everyone was moving out of the cafeteria and going to their next class. “um, no I don’t think I did.”
Chelsea said, staring up at Charlie who was standing and walking towards the door. “I said we’re leaving, you have gym class to get to, don’t you?” Oh yea, gym class, she thought. She hated gym class, especially after lunch. I mean, who exercises directly after lunch? She wanted to get her schedule changed but
couldn’t. apparently, the other classes where to full. Chelsea stands up and starts toward where Charlie was, Catching up with her. She looked around to find where her other friends had gone. “they left” Charlie said, as if reading her mind. “said they had to get to class, but since our classes are so close, I decided I’d stay.” Charlie’s class was right beside the gym class, she had
foods, and the foods class was directly in front of the gym doors. “so, what were you thinking about?” Charlie asked quizzically. “I was thinking
about when mine and your dad would work on the robots at Freddy’s together every Saturday, and how you where mortified that they had taken Freddy’s endoskeleton off.” Chelsea said, laughing at the memory as they were walking down the hallway. “I remember how petrified you where, because he was your favorite.” Chelsea and Charlie laughed together down the halls. “yea, that was terrifying, and even though it was three years ago, I still can’t believe it feel like forever.” She stopped, with a look of concern on her face. She looked to Chelsea with pity in her eyes. “by the way, how have you been? I know losing your father was-" Chelsea stopped her before she could finish. “I’m fine” she said, looking at the ground, she couldn’t look into her eyes and lie, she was her best friend after
all. She hated when her friends did this, she tried to stray away from topics about home life for as long as possible, afraid she would bring up him if she did. She didn’t know how to bring up life with her uncle, she didn’t think she should either.
Its not like she had anywhere else to go. She stayed with her friends on random nights, but that’s all she could do to get away. “if you say so, you just seem different for the last 3 years.” Charlie started walking
again, and Chelsea followed. “what do you mean by that?” Chelsea said. “I mean you just seem more mature” Charlie responded looking at Chelsea. She seemed like she knew that Chelsea was lying. “well, is that a bad thing?” Chelsea wondered. Charlie looked forward, a moment of silence fell before she responded, they were at the gym and foods room.

“I guess not.”
