Stonefork Chapter Six
Alexis’ POV
I see him wading out to the water and I have to turn away to hide the tear sliding down my cheek. Damon makes his way towards us, taking his time. I stand stock still. Connor instinctively wraps his arm around me as Damon abruptly comes to a stop.
“Ale-“ He starts but I don’t let him.
“Listen, Damon, We are over, leave me alone.” I say quietly, “You hurt me and I cannot forgive you for that. Go.” A look of hurt shows through his eyes but he shakes it off.
We had been going out for six months, when I found out. Two more tears flow down my cheek and Damon moves to wipe them away but I quickly slap his hand away. “I made a mistake Alex! He yells desperately slamming his hand in the water making a splash. “I miss you…” He murmurs as he walks slowly toward the shore. I immediately snuggled up into Connors toned stomach and he holds me tight, comforting me with words I don’t hear. I am too busy gasping through my tears now cascading down my cheek and into the water.
Connor picks me up bridal style and slowly carries me to his car. I close my eyes and sobbed myself to sleep.
***LATER THAT NIGHT***
I woke up in my bed, snuggled up under the covers. I yawn and stretch as I climb out of bed and look at the time. It’s only 5:30, so I went downstairs to see if the twins are hungry.
When I walk in the kitchen I see Connor beating eggs in a silver metallic bowl and my mother laughing.
“Hey, Alexis! Why don’t you help Connor? He’s not whisking too well.”
She says in her peppy voice.
“Whatever,” I say grumpily seeing as I just woke up. I take the whisk from him and slowly beat the eggs.
“Connor,” she says, “Why don’t you get Cindy and Ben for Breakfast for dinner?”
“Okay,” He replies and climbs up the stairs. She tries to start up conversation but I ignore her – too tired to care.
I wonder why the twins aren’t down here, yet? My question is answered by a high pitched scream that’s followed a lower laugh. I involuntary smile as I can picture what Connor is doing – my guess is that he picked Cindy up and then Ben laughed – then he will probably carry them down the stairs.
I am suddenly broken out of my reverie when a large truck passes by our house. I see the advertisement on the side of the truck and it says, ‘Two Men and a Truck.’ A moving truck company! It must be whoevers moving into the Brewster’s house! (A/N – If you don’t remember what that is reread chapter one. She was on her walk and passed a house that had been for sale for forever and wondered who bought it.) Apparently, Cindy heard it too and yelled, “Mommy! Mommy! The peoples are here!” in between fits of giggles.
My mother must’ve heard her and caught me staring and said, “Maybe, after dinner we could make cookies and bring some over to them.”
“Okay!” I agree – hopefully there will be someone my age!
Finally, I saw Connor coming down the stairs with two little kids slung across his back and was grinning like a Cheshire cat. My mother sets down two plates and goes back for the others while the rest of us sit down and serve ourselves pancakes, bacon, eggs, and sausage.
***After Dinner***
I rang the doorbell with my open hand – the one without a platter of brownies on them – and listened to the echo of footsteps coming our way. A woman opened the door smiling and so I said, “Hi! We heard the moving truck and thought we’d come say hi.”
“Oh! Okay! Come on in!” She waves her hand toward the interior of her house and stepped aside so we can enter. I stepped in first, then Connor trailing slightly behind, followed by the twins who were being ushered by Julie.
We all sat down at a small table and she called down her two kids. “This is Adam,” She says, “And this is Bridget.” I study the boy, he looks around my age has trimmed brown hair, and brown eyes to match it. Overall, he is pretty hot! He smiled at me and I returned it easily. Bridget looks a couple years older than the twins and her brown hair was tied up in two French braids.
As we ate we talked about random things. When Mrs. Dexter, I found out was their last name, asked out how our day went I said good and quickly excused myself to go outside. No tears escaped my eyes as I motioned for Connor to stay.
When I got outside I saw a couple trees and flowers. I immediately skipped to the Jungle Jim and swung on one of the blue chained swings until I heard a voice calling my name. I answered and then I saw Adam’s toned body coming out of the shadows. He sees me and a smile covers his face as he sits on the swing next to me.
He didn’t ask me what was wrong, but he obviously knew – I could tell, and we just talked. He asked me what school is like here since it’s starting next week and I tell him it’s just cliché high school. He laughed then, a rich hearty laugh that seemed to fill me up and then I was laughing too. I learned he was single, loved to play lacrosse and a lot more. We had a lot in common seeing as I was single too and played a sport – soccer! He asked me what my relationship was with Connor and I replied that we were really close – but just friends. He seemed particularly pleased with that.
Too soon his mother yelled that it was time to come inside and then I realized it was already dark. I stepped up to come in but was pulled back by his hand on mine.
“Can I ask you a favor?” He says.
“Sure, anything.” He smiles and says,
“Will you go out with me?”
A/N- Sorry! A cliffhanger! Haha! I have some important topics though to address…
1. I’m super sorry that I didn’t upload! I have been really busy with school and everything but that’s no excuse! I have had writers block and quite frankly – I only write when I want to. Being stuck in an airport makes you want to, apparently. I will try to upload one a week but no promises!
2. I am pretty stuck with writers block so, if you guys have any ideas please instant message me! I have a couple good ones, I think.
3. Please if you comment, don’t just write upload! I feel bad when you do that and if you could tell me what you guys think that would be a major help!
4. If anyone wants to make a cover for me that would be awesome! I could give you guys an idea or summary or something! Comment on my page if you want to! I would probably read your stories and make a shout out. If you have any other prize recommendations tell me!
5. I would like to have an editor! That’d be sweet but I doubt that’s going to happen… Any volunteers?
6. Anybody want to pick teams? Team Damon, Connor, or Adam! What do you think she’ll say to Adam?
7. By the way, I was looking at my first chapter and this isn’t a spin-off anymore of Minkey Fisk’s book!
8. I would like to set a minimum before I post because when I see what you guys say it motivates me! BTW- just upload doesn’t count as a comment!!!
TWO NEW FANS!!!!
