I sang the last part of the song Thousand Years by Cristina Perry as I pluck the strings of the guitar. "That's wonderful nurse Lee!. Can you sing another song for me please?" 8 year old Nathalie pleaded with puppy eyes.

I'm on duty today as you can tell. It's been a week since my b-day and I'm living my life as if I'm not yet 25. I feel like a year younger than my age though. I'm here sitting beside Nathalie's bed. She's here for almost a month now diagnosed with brain tumor. She's a fighter, she recovered immediately after her opperation a week ago.

I'm the nurse in charge, so I can always sing her a song to cheer her up and hopping it can help speed up her recovery.
"Nathalie stop asking nurse Lee to sing for you. I'm a better singer than her you know. I can sing you any song you wish. I'll hit high notes for the girly song you like. 'I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world"

Nathaniel sang imitating a small girls voice when he entered the room. I giggled with Nathalie as her brother danced and sang around the room like a promo girl trying to sell barbie dolls for little girls and trying to convince their mommies that his product is worth buying for their children.

"Stop it big bro! Your making a fool of yourself in front of nurse Lee!"

"Shut up Nath! Let her see my craziness after all she don't feel like a 25 year old woman!" Nathaniel crossed his arms and grinned like he won on a bet.

"Even so! For Apollo's sake! Your already 27 and yet your still acting like a kid on his first time to eat chocolates. Your more hyper a child with ADHD!" Nathalie said in a sarcastic way while throwing her hands on the air in exaggeration.

"Huh! I smell some old lady's stinky armpits in here! And she's acting like my older sister! And you know Lee? She's only eight, but for an eight year old kid she surely knows a lot. A lot that she's over qualified being my maid in my resto" Nathaniel back fired while looking at my direction, and this time his pinching his nose while fanning his right hand in the air then followed by an evil laugh.

If he's trying to piss his sister, well he's about to achieve it. I can already see smoke coming out of Nathalie's ear. She doesn't want to be called a maid and most especially an old lady with smelly armpits.

I can't contain it any more. I burst out laughing while the two kept on throwing playful insults at each other. "Hahaha you two are amazing." The only thing I can comment about their sweet gestures they make to keep in touch with each other.
"You can stop now guys. We don't like to wake up other patients and start a rally against two loud machine guns firing cute insults at each other don't we?" I finally cut off the mini war. "Fine" the two said in unison and finally the room got peace.

After that we chat a little more while eating the apples bought by Nathaniel and my time in her room was fnally over. If your wondering why I'm close to them, I don't know eather. All I know they want my presence there especially Nathalie. I also was driven closer to them. For almost a month I've been her nurse, I'm quite use of their playful fights and jolly attitudes.

"Well Nathalie I better get going now. Some patients needs me in their rooms too. I don't want to keep them waiting" I kissed her in her temple and then smiled before waving good beye. "Wait here Nath. I'm gonna escort nurse Lee out side" Nathaniel shut the door then faced me.

"So I'll be going now. Thanks for the apples. Their really crunchy." I smiled at him. "No. I should be the one telling you that. Thank you for taking good care of my sister. Giving her hope,joy and support she needed from a kind person like you. Your always there for her like her own sister. From the bottom of my heart, I'm very thankful you came into our lives. Thank you Lee" He looked directly at my eyes and held my hands in his. I can see sincerity in his jade colored eyes and from the words escaping his thin gorgeous lips. So cheesy.

"Nah. Don't mention it. Your kind to me and all. I'm just returning the kindness and just doing my job as a nurse" We stared at each other for fifteen seconds that we didn't notice he's still holding my hands. I broke the contact and we backed away from each other. After that an awkward silence filled the both of us. "So you've turned 23 last week. Belated Happy birthday by the way." He said while scraching his nape. "Isn't it late to greet? But still thanks" I joked a bit to lighten the atmosphere between us.

"It's never too late to greet a kind lady like you" he smiled widely showing his perfect set of white teeth. "Say.. Do you want to have some dinner with me this Saturday in my resto? Just a thank you and a "late" birthday treat for you" he said while putting air quotes in the word late, then he immediately avoided my gaze.

"Um.. Are you asking me on a date?" I said playfully. He's cheeks turned rosy red as I said the word "date". "If that's what you want to call it then why not?" He then said confidently after recovering on his blishing.

"Just kidding.. Sure.I'll be happy to accept. Anyways I have no work on that day. Pick me up at 8?" I accepted his kind offer. It will be very convenient for me not to cook for dinner on that night. I can save food and in the same time I can go outside and see the world again.

"Pick you up at 8" he said again with a smile. "I'll better get going. Beye Nathaniel see you on Saturday" I waved good beye as I hurried down the hall. Another patient called for my help. Nathaniel was waving with a big grinn on his face. Afterwards he fade off my sight.
