CHAPTER TWO
i wouldn't walk away even if i could

𝐅or once, Chaewon was finally having a great time. All it had to take was a few shots of alcohol and her favorite snacks to put a lousy smile on her face. It did not suit her. Even she could tell. After all, most of the time she could only be seen with either a deep frown on her face or a seething glare in her eyes. If looks could kill, the person she looks at would definitely be in the morgue already.

She sat around her own circle of a group, still beside Eun, the two instinctively gravitating towards each other in the room full of people they didn't know. Yet for some reason, as hard as she tried, Chaewon couldn't help but glance over in his direction. Only to notice that someone else was doing the same thing but longer than she did.

"Kang Mirae, I envy you so much," Jung-boon pouted.

The girl snapped out of her thoughts, looking at her. "What?"

"Your name is as pretty as your face," She sighed, plucking a piece of chips to eat. "My name is Jung-boon. It's so tacky."

Mirae didn't speak, not knowing what to say to her words, completely flustered by the constant compliments she'd been receiving. Chaewon took another swig from her bottle of water instead, washing down the alcohol in her throat as she simply observed.

"No way, you're prettier. Don't say that."

"Come on. That's too big of a lie. You look like an actress, right? You kind of look like an announcer, too."

"Girls, girls," Chaewon sighed, raising her empty shot glass to them. "You're both beautiful, we get it. Now, let's drink."

Eun agreed. "Can you guys drink? We should start drinking as well."

"Yeah," Mirae breathed obliviously, immediately reaching for the large bottle of water and pouring it into Chaewon's glass.

Eun paused, holding the alcohol in her hand. She shared a confused look with Chaewon but neither of them said a word. She shrugged her shoulders, grabbing the Fanta to start pouring the substance into another cup.

     "What?"

     "What's this?"

Chaewon tensed up, feeling an unwanted presence looming behind her. Then the person sat down between her and Mirae, placing each hand on their shoulders. His other friend sitting on her other side, holding a bottle of some alcoholic drink. She could probably tolerate the latter more than the other.

"How dare a freshman drink water and soda?" Kim Chan-woo joked. The two girls were obviously uncomfortable, the other more pissed off actually, but he didn't notice or just didn't care enough. "If I catch you acting all shy, I'm going to have to scold you."

His friend, Jungho, grinned at him. "Woah, so manly."

"Let's fill our glasses." When he finally removed his arms around them, Chaewon relaxed a little. She shared a subtle eye contact with Mirae as Chan-woo began to pour each of them some Soju. "Yours is empty. Jung-boon, I'll pour you a glass. You, too."

Chaewon politely accepted it and held her glass. From across her, Eun had a suspicious look on her face. She didn't like the way their senior was acting but then again, even if she wanted to tell him off━it would be a little hard since they were new and Chan-woo obviously had more power in their university right now. Currently. It sure wouldn't last long with Ahn Chaewon and Do Kyung-seok around.
