𝐂haewon thought she'd always been good at compartmentalizing her emotions in specific situations. But right now, she was trying so hard to put on a brave front so Mirae wouldn't feel less safe than they actually were. They both knew something was wrong. Kim Chan-woo being there was the obvious reason. His mere presence was enough to unnerve the hell out of the two girls.

He guided them into a dark room, briefly flicking a light switch on, brightness illuminating the old lounge that smelled musty. They hesitantly entered, Chan-woo watching them closely, which Chaewon uncomfortably noticed. He shut the door behind them with a quiet thud.

"I should get some rest, too," Chan-woo sighed, walking over to the couches. As he sat down comfortably, he noticed that they weren't moving by the door. "Why are you two standing there? Sit down."

Mirae hastily glanced at her, not knowing what to do. Then she said timidly, "Okay."

Chaewon nudged her gently, nodding towards the opposite couch, a safe distance away from the creepy senior. As she took a seat on the armchair, Mirae strangely found herself on the lone chair around a circular table.

"Aren't you uncomfortable?" Chan-woo said, then patted the open space next to him. "Sit down here comfortably."

Chaewon sent him a fake smile. "She can sit next to me."

"Why?" Chan-woo asked incredulously, sitting up straight as he looked between her and Mirae. "Do I make you feel uncomfortable? Would you suggest we switch, then? I'll sit over there."

Is it that obvious? Chaewon almost rolled her eyes. She had to think of a solution because there was no way she and Mirae were going to stay in this room with Chan-woo any longer. Quietly, she felt for her phone, cheering in her mind when she found it and hastily, she texted Yoo Eun to call her as soon as possible.

Chaewon moved back to the long couch as Chan-woo switched with her. The moment she sat down, her phone began blaring out her ringtone. She acted surprised, fetching out her phone to check who was calling. Eun is calling. The screen showed brightly like a good sign from the heavens.

Chan-woo sent her a nod. "You should answer that."

"Excuse me," Chaewon mumbled. Mirae looked at her worriedly and she sent her an assuring smile. "Take a seat."

She turned her back on them, answering the phone call as she put the device beside her ear. "Hey, what's up?"

"What's up?" Eun asked incredulously, she could almost imagine the furrow between her brows. "You texted me to call you."

"Oh? Mirae? You want to talk to her?" Chaewon said, laughing ever so slightly as she emphasized the girl's name. "What? No way. They're giving her an award. That's so great!"

Eun sounded so confused. "What are you on about━"

She put down her phone and gestured for Mirae. "Mirae, I'm so sorry but I think we might have to pause our little rest because apparently, they're giving you something for being our winning team leader and all, you know."

"Huh?" Mirae looked at her, confused.

Chan-woo raised his brows, believing her lie. "Really? You can go, Mirae. We'll wait for you here."

Mirae was preparing to leave, as well as Chaewon when the latter stopped in her tracks. Her jaw clenched. Mirae looked back at her, a worried glint in her pretty big eyes. She smiled assuringly at the girl then turned to look back at the relaxed male on the armchair, staring at her expectantly.
