Y/N Pov

I had spent the last two hours pacing up and down and searching for anything to distract me from the looming evening I was soon to be having.

'Why me?' , 'He wasn't looking at me that intently', 'I can't believe he remembered about the ring!'

My head was spinning with thoughts and my vision was clouding. I lay down on my bed and reached for the necklace. The iridescent glints mesmerised me; I couldn't take my eyes off it.

I must have been more exhausted than I thought. My eyes bean to flutter and I fell asleep almost instantly.

Eleanor Pov

'Oh my goddd! Where is she??'

I had been knocking on her door like a madman for what felt like hours at this point.

"Y/N!!! Are you there?? Hellooooo?!?"

"Looking for someone?" A harsh voice snapped behind me. I whipped my head round and was instantly met with the sharp, bitchy face of the one and only: Pansy Parkinson. I rolled my eyes and turned back round,

"Y/N, come onnn!!!"

Pansy let out a scoff behind me. I took a moment to gather my confidence and turned round to face her.

"Can I help you?" I said in the most pissed off tone I could manage.

"Yes actually, you can." She looked me up and down, clearly despising every moment of having to speak to me.

"With what exactly?".

"With that." She looked disgustedly at Y/N's door. "Her, I need her out of my way. I know about her little plans with my Draco tonight. I don't know who the hell she thinks she is, looking at my boyfriend like that."

   I smirked confidently.

"I think it was the other way round, Pansy. Maybe check with your 'boyfriend' before going after a girl you don't even know."

"Oh, I know her well enough. Her grandfather fucked over my dad's company. We almost lost everything. It's a good thing her poor grandpa was such an easy target. Anyways, I don't even know why I bothered coming to you. You're worthless to me: another easy target." She grinned evilly. Her face was centimetres away from mine. Her breath smelt of sour apple and was almost making my eyes sting.

"Don't cross me, Woods. I will make your life a living hell." She continued spitting insults at me, My weight, my clothes, my hair. She found a fault in everything.

I can usually take bitchiness like this, but I don't know what it is about this girl: she finds a way into my head. She twists my thoughts and makes my stomach drop.

Tears were brimming in my eyes. I tried so hard to keep composure but I couldn't hold myself together any longer. My lip began to tremble and a tear traced my cheek. She took a small step back and brought a cold hand to my face. Patronisingly, she wiped my tear away from my chin; her sharp, black claws scraping my lip and digging into my neck. I felt a sharp sting and a warm droplet trail down to my collarbone.  She opened her mouth to speak.

Before she could say anything, the door behind me swung open. Pansy snapped out of her threatening manner and switched to one of anger. She slowly turned her gaze up to Y/N. She was stood in the doorway, arms crossed and leaning calmly against the doorframe.

"Let go of her." Y/N's voice was cold and straight.

Pansy released her grip on my face. I took a sharp inhale and moved to the side. Y/N took my place and gripped onto Pansy's collar. She walked forwards a few steps, still holding her collar and not breaking eye contact. Pansy stumbled back with her: she almost looked scared.

"Do you not have anything better to do? No plans? Nowhere else to be?"

Pansy stuttered for a reply.

"Come onnn, there must be something. No date with Draco? Oh! Of course. That's me. You know I should really start getting ready for that. I want to look pretty for your boyfriend." She turned her head away and put a comical hand to her chin. "What do you think: red lipstick? Or black. Hmm, red would go with the dress he got me, but I don't know, maybe he'd prefer black. "

She looked back at Pansy. And put her hand on Pansy's face, still gripping her shirt with the other. As she spoke, she swiped her thumb over the trembling lip of the girl in front of her.

"You're wearing black lipstick. Does he like that?" Pansy didn't reply. "Maybe you could ask him for me: 'What lipstick shade would you like Y/N to wearing while you fuck her tonight?' Go on, I think he's in the dining hall."

Y/N released Pansy from her tight grip and she stumbled back. Straightening herself and smoothing out her collar, Pansy looked at Y/N in disbelief. She pursed her lips and swallowed whatever insult she couldn't come up with. She quickly turned and scuttled away.

Y/N instantly snapped out of her hateful mood and whipped her head round to face me.

"Oh my gosh. El, are you ok? I'm so sorry I fell asleep. Don't listen to her she doesn't know what she's talking about, or who she's talking to, clearly. I-"

Before she could say another word, I pulled her into a warm embrace.

"Thank you." I shakily said as she hugged me back. I pulled away and held her upper arms. "Now come on, we have a dinner to eat and a date to get you ready for." I squeezed her shoulders and smiled a falsely confident smile. I went to walk on but Y/N grabbed my arm, "Y/N, I'll be fine, promise."

She gave me a suspicious look then brushed it off and, with a comforting smirk, linked arms with me and we headed to the main hall.
