The kingdom has been in wonderful spirits. The decades-long famine and war had finally ended and people were starting to live peaceful and fulfilling lives as they had once before. Parents would return home each evening knowing they would be able to feed themselves and their children. The markets were bustling, as everyone had coins to spend and thus helping make the economy flourish. Everything seemed to be perfect and all it took was for their king and the ruler of another land to make an agreement.

The other kingdom had many natural resources thanks to its robust environment. However, the technology was severely lacking and that kingdom had been unable to properly evolve. Unlike their kingdom which was one of the largest and most powerful, but had been hit by disaster after disaster as of late. So, with an agreement to become allies and share the supply of resources and the technology to collect such resources faster, the deal had been struck.

The alliance wasn't one written down on paper or through a handshake though, but rather... through a union of both royal families. The kings each had a child in their teen years and had decided it was the perfect way to make sure the union and agreement between both kingdoms remained in place. Their goal was to become one kingdom after all and the best way to do that would be to have the heirs both marry one another to actually create a united royal family.

Everyone had rejoiced to hear their princess was to be married and had started to plan the festivities from the moment of finding out. It had been a few months, but today was finally that day. The central city was decorated and many families were gathering together to pay respects to their soon-to-be future king and queen.

Joy and excitement existed in everyone aside from the princess herself. Laiba inhaled sharply, feeling one of her maids tighten the corset once more. The white dress needed to look perfect after all! The princess would only look amazing if everything about her was also amazing! So, the ladies around her continued to paint and cloth her like a doll and laugh among themselves. They gushed over how pretty Laiba was and that she was lucky to be marrying such a handsome prince.

"He's certainly unique." Laiba forced a smile. "I'm sure our marriage will be very memorable."

She allowed the maids to talk once more and sighed. That was the nicest way she could put it. She had met the prince in question several times while her parents and his set up the agreements and marriage prospects. She had thought he would be more princely, but that ash blonde ruffian had the manners of a commoner.

"Is she ready?" The voice of her mother asked and the door opened.

The maids all replied and exciting tones and her mother gave Laiba a soft smile. A single tear was wiped away from her eye and then Laiba was being ushered out and towards the chapel. Her mother's grip on her wrist was tight, as she knew of her daughter's wishes against such a thing. Yet, Laiba, despite not wanting to be sold off like a piece of cattle, had relented when her father demanded her to.

She might be the one getting married... but it was for the sake of her kingdom and its people. She needed... to think about the majority before her own personal feelings about this. So, she had stopped making plans for escape and merely accepted this fate. Maybe if all went well... Prince Bakugou Katsuki would divorce her once they both were able to take over the throne.

A tune of a piano hummed and the doors to the chapel opened. Laiba peered inside and could see that everyone was waiting on her. Her mother was joined by her father and soon, both were walking her down the aisle.

She paused before the young prince and their eyes met. His carmine hues narrowed and he softly clicked his tongue. At least the feelings about this were mutual. Behind him was his mother, who like Laiba's own- was keeping a close eye on him. The pair of kings began the ceremony and Laiba allowed her mind to drift.

She thought of the days of her childhood when she had wished for a handsome and kind prince or knight to sweep her off her feet and fall in love together. The reality of her life was much crueler and more politically motivated it appeared, however. She had only met this guy three times before this and now she was expected to marry and begin a family with him.

Laiba heard her name called and she looked out before her. The burning irises before her met her own and she gulped as the queens made them take hands. A ring slipped onto her finger and onto his as well, followed by her own father's voice announcing the union. Clapping and calls of joy rang out as the chapel bell rang loudly for all the kingdom to hear.

Laiba inhaled sharply and looked out before her. Her husband's eyes were looking at her still, but all the malice was still there. She only turned her head to the side and tried to break her hands out of his hold. But, her father and mother would not allow it and thus, the newlyweds were marched out by guards and placed into a lavish room filled with wedding gifts and food.

Laiba's eyes closed in frustration when she saw that the door had been locked and she was trapped in here with him. Bakugou luckily wasn't the kind of person to break personal space or force himself on her... so he had a single good trait it appeared.

"So that was it, huh?" She tried to break the tension.

"Fucking guess so..." Bakugou sneered at her. "But don't think for a second I'm your actual damn husband in anything outside of a fucking title."

Laiba nodded her head at him. "I hold the same sentiment. We are married, but that doesn't mean we must act like it. So long as both our homes flourish... I shall be happy."

Bakugou didn't reply and their usual interactions of no interaction started again. Laiba moved to the bed and sat down on it. The white wedding gown looked as foreign to her as the woman who stared back at her from the mirror.

She had her face... but this woman was married. Laiba didn't feel like she was, but the longer she stared at that familiar face, the quicker she accepted it.

She was married despite having no interest in her spouse. As was the usual fate of a princess after all.
