I pushed her out of the way just in time to push so it would hit her shoulder instead. I could hear my father screaming at me to stay back but I didn't care. I hugged my mother with tears in my eyes and pulled her into my lap. "No Mama you can't leave me I need you you can't go." I cried out to her. "I'm sorry Mi Querido Diablito (My darling little devil) but I need to tell you something before I go." her mother choked out. Before I could hear what my mother had to say I heard another gunshot and felt blood splatter on my face. I looked over to my father's lifeless body but before I could scream once more. My mama pulled me down so she could whisper in my ear.
