Today was it, the day everything she knew in life would change for good. You see, Jade Slora isn't your average teenage girl. In fact, nothing was normal about her. From her light lavender colored hair she's had since birth to the way she would occasionally growl at people for coming too close to her or her friends. I guess you could say it's normal for her to be on edge, being moved from house to house every month had to have had some sort of effect on your reactions around people. But... you don't know the whole story. She's been on her own since she was a year old, and she would finally find someone who truly understands her in under a week.
"Jade, get up! You have to be at school in a half hour!" Her 'mother' calls up the stairs, making her sigh in annoyance. She reluctantly gets out of bed, not bothering to make it before heading down the stairs to meet her fate. She hurries to get ready, not wanting to have a run-in with her brother, who absolutely hates her.
"Alright, I'm heading out. I'll see you after school," Jade says, heading out the door with her bag before her foster mom can say another word. She hurries to get away from the house as fast as possible, not wanting her annoying neighbor to notice she had left. Of course, with her luck, she ends up being stopped by Julia Florez anyway.
"Hey Jade, are you heading to school already?" She asks, Jade just rolling her eyes in annoyance.
"No, I'm heading to my doom," Jade says sarcastically, walking faster in an attempt to escape.
"Don't give me that, Jade," Julia says, getting a little annoyed at the way Jade just completely ignores her. Jade, not wanting to talk to her any longer, takes a sharp turn into an alley and smirks as Julia walks by, completely missing her. She cautiously steps out of the alley a few moments later, looking around to make sure Julia was gone. She decides it's safe and heads to school, sitting in her first class to sit through whatever torture the world wanted her to endure that day. After a few classes pass, she finally gets to the one class she loves, Mythical Creatures Studies. She didn't really understand why they had that class, since most schools around the world didn't offer it anymore. Maybe it was the town she was in. Strange things tended to happen in Claw Ville. She could've sworn that during the full moon last night she heard howling, but maybe she just imagined it. Today they were studying the history of werewolves and shapeshifters, one of the things she's always been interested in.
After school ends she heads home, not expecting to have a run in with an actual creature on her way. She comes across a man standing at the corner of the street on her way home, his eyes the same purple-ish blue as hers.
"Why hello there, pup. I haven't seen you in years. Just look at how much you've grown up," the man murmurs, his voice surprisingly soft even with how gigantic he was. He was at least twice her size, but that didn't scare her away at all. If anything, it just made her more curious as to who he was.
"Wait, who are you? How do you know me? I'm sure that if I knew you I'd definitely remember you," she says curiously, keeping a safe distance between her and the man.
"Well, to answer the question of who I am, I'm your older brother, and I've been looking for you for 17 years. I want to bring you home, if you'll come with me," he says, a hopeful glint in his eyes as he smiles at her. She sighs softly, weighing out her options. She didn't know this man, but could she trust him? What if he was telling the truth? Where would they be going? How long until they can leave? All of these questions were racing through her mind, and she knew she had no time to ask any of them as she had to be home soon.
"Look, can I have a day or two to think this over? I want to believe you, I really do, but I'm not sure if I can trust you," she says honestly, taking a step closer to him. She was too curious for her own good, and she was well aware of that fact. She knew she had to be careful.
