(Lauren Perspective)

"Okay I want you all to finish chapter 10 tonight for homework, along with the rest of your study guide for your final." said Mrs. Green writing the assignment on the board. Lauren rolled her eyes and thought to herself Great more pointless reading. As the bell rang Lauren shoved all of her notes and pens into her backpack and headed to the door. Lauren sighed to herself realizing that this was only her first class of the day. Already stressed out due to finals being in one week she rubbed her temples trying to calm her nerves. After her last class, she made her way out of the classroom. Pulling her phone out of her pocket she scrolled through the endless list of songs and finally decided to play Run by Hozier. "OOOH I love this song!" Lauren smiled to herself pulling out her umbrella readying herself for the rain.

After walking two blocks Lauren finally got to her dorm room door. "Hey Ally I'm home!" she yelled. "Hey Lo! I'm in the kitchen making waffles do you want any?" Ally waved, licking syrup off her fingers. "No I'm good Ally its 3 pm, didn't you have waffles for breakfast? Plus I have a shit ton of homework to do, but thanks anyway." Lauren said struggling to kick off her Doc Martens. "Lo don't you know me by now? I live and breathe waffles." claimed Ally.

Lauren unpacked all her notes and decided to try and read the rest of the chapter like her teacher had asked. After thirty minutes she finally finished now deciding to take a break. She pulled out her laptop and scrolled through tumblr. She giggled to herself at funny memes, and reblogged  several textposts about feminism. Looking at the clock, she then logged out. She then moved her laptop aside now starting her study guide. After finishing the first page of short answers, Lauren caught herself falling asleep. "Fuck, I'm so tired I need coffee." she cursed grabbing her backpack.

"Ally! Where can I get coffee that'll wake me up, I was falling asleep doing my study guide for Green." Lauren chuckled to herself. "Uhm, there's this little coffee shop 3 blocks from here. It's right at the corner you won't miss it!" Lauren thanked Ally and made her way down the flight of stairs.

Now a block away, she noticed a crowd swarming the entrance. "What the hell is going on?" she asked a guy next to her. "Someone's singing! But I can't see!" replied the man now out of breath trying to jump and see over the crowd. Then Lauren stopped to listen...

Hush, don't speak

When you spit your venom, keep it shut I hate it

When you hiss and preach

About your new messiah 'cause your theories catch fire

I can't find your silver lining I don't mean to judge

But when you read your speech, it's tiringEnough is enough

"Oh my god I love this song. Wow she's actually really good!" Lauren said to herself trying to get a peek at the singer. Opening the door to the coffee shop, she tried to see who the singer was. Unable to see, Lauren gave up and decided to order her coffee instead. "Hmmm, I'll have the Mint Mojito please. Uhm do you happen to know the singer? Her voice is beautiful." Lauren said in awe of the unknown singer. "Sure, coming right up! Oh that's Camila, she's wonderful isn't she?" replied the barista handing Lauren her change. "I wish I could see her though..." sighed Lauren.

Now I've got you in my space

I won't let go of you (never)

Got you shackled in my embrace

I'm latching on to you (never)

"Holy shit! Is this a mashup? This is amazing!" Lauren cheered. Grabbing her cup, she made her way to an open table. Taking out her books and other study utensils she took a sip of her iced coffee. She licked her lips trying to get all the whipped cream off, looking up to realize that she now had a clear view of the singer. Lauren's mouth dropped as she watched the girl onstage strum and bob her head to the music. "That's Camila...?" gasped Lauren, "she's beautiful."

Lauren watched Camila as she set down her guitar, and wave to the crowd as everyone cheered. Continuing to stare, Lauren watched Camila run her fingers through her wavy hair coolly. Camila stood up adjusting her collared blouse, and announced that she was singing her last song for the night. "Hi everyone! Thanks for coming to listen, I'll be singing American by Lana del Rey." said Camila licking her lips readying herself. I fucking love Lana! Lauren whispered to herself, still taken by the girl's raspy voice.

Camila gave a final wave and started to strum the intro to the song:

Play house, put my favorite record on

Get down, get your Crystal Method on

You were like, tall, tan, drivin' 'round the city

Flirtin' with the girls like, "You're so pretty"

Springsteen is the king, don't you think?"

I was like, "Hell yeah, this girl can sing"

Lauren chuckled to herself when she realized that she had changed the last line of the lyrics in the song. She gazed into Camila's brown eyes, now getting lost in the way she was swaying back and forth to the rhythm. She then realized Camila was staring at her, and she winked when Lauren met her gaze. Oh fuck thought Lauren, feeling her heart beat speed up. Looking away, Lauren tried to hide her now rosy red cheeks.

As Camila finished the last note she immediately bowed. She smiled and waved as everyone rushed to the stage. Lauren couldn't stop herself from staring at the young girl's long legs. Starting from her feet, Lauren's eyes slowly made their way to Camila's butt which was round fitting for her white skinny jeans. "Jesus..." Lauren muttered as she watched Camila bend down to put her guitar in it's case. She felt her lips curl into a smile, when she met Camila's gaze yet again.

Camila made her way through the crowd as they all shuffled out the door. The remaining people in the small shop clapped and Camila bowed again grinning. Lauren watched as Camila walked over to her table. Sitting up quickly, and pretending to study she shuffled her papers. "Hey is this seat taken—-" Camila stopped startled by Lauren knocking her coffee and spilling it on her legs. "Oh fuck, shit I'm sorry. Here allow me." offered Lauren quickly. She grabbed napkins, quickly dabbing at the growing stain on Camila's pants. "No worries, my gig is over anyway." giggled Camila as she watched Lauren rub. "So do you mind if I sit with you?" questioned Camila.

"No go ahead. And sorry about your pants again." said Lauren offering an awkward smile. "No really it's fine. I just hadn't intended to come talk to you with this shit stain." Camila giggled. "You wanted to come talk to me? For what?" question Lauren raising an eyebrow. "Well I saw you staring in the sea of people, and I kinda got lost in those beautiful green eyes of yours." said Camila biting her lip. Holy shit Lauren thought, attempting to hide the redness in her cheeks. "Your voice is amazing, and I loved both of the songs you sang. Especially American, Lana is my favorite." Lauren smiled realizing how close they were. "Not as amazing as those eyes," Camila winked, "but thank you, I love Lana's music. Her lyrics are so true and honest." "I agree, I saw her in concert last spring and her show was the shit." recalled Lauren now smiling.

"That's awesome! Hey what are you studying?" questioned Camila grabbing hold of Lauren's papers. "Oh I'm just finishing my study guide for my English class." pointed out Lauren. "That's cool, hey I'm really hungry do you wanna go grab a bite?" proposed Camila. "Yeah sure! But do you really want to walk around with that brown wet stain on your pants?" Lauren asked concerned. "Well it's your fault for getting me wet." joked Camila. In response, Lauren's eyes widened. "I was only kidding, get your mind out of the gutter!" Camila said punching Lauren playfully. "Here you can wear this." offered Lauren putting her long rain coat around Camila's shoulders. For a moment, Lauren's hands lingered on Camila's shoulders. Camila starred intimately into Lauren's piercing green eyes and finally said, "I know this great pizza parlor a few stores down, let's head out."

The two girls walked side by side, talking and laughing. Lauren realized that she liked every aspect of the young girl, from her wavy hair to her raspy voice. She could listen to Camila talk all day long. Now infatuated by the young girl's taste in music. Every time Camila bit her lip, Lauren felt butterflies in her stomach. Lauren then noticed how soft Camila's lips looked. Oh no stop staring thought Lauren scolding herself. Lauren has only known Camila for 45 minutes, but she could feel herself falling for the girl who performed at the coffee shop.
