For @Simppforkatsukii
"Your husband has requested your presence in the chamber room, your highness."
Laiba hummed, putting her book down and looking toward the maid. She rose from her seat and nodded at the maid with a gentle smile. The maid held open the door and watched as her queen made her way to where the king was waiting.
It had only been a year since the new rulers took over and officially made the two separate nations into one. And it had also been nearly two years since the queen and king had been married. How time flew by and how wonderful this union of both royals and kingdoms had turned out.
Even the queen herself couldn't believe how much she and her own husband had grown to deal with one another in a diplomatic fashion. It had started off rocky and full of arguments, but as they got used to one another and learned how to act and treat the other, it had gotten easier to stand the idea that they were spouses.
Laiba knocked gently before she entered the room. Her husband was sitting at a desk, looking to be going over some kind of notes or letter. Laibe came near and looked over his shoulder. Before he used to yell at her to mind her own business and try to hide whatever it was that he was doing, but now he wouldn't do anything and if he was in a good mood, might even ask her for her opinion on whatever it was.
"You called, Katsuki?" She asked and the ash-blonde hummed.
He put away what it was he had been working on and instead looked at her with a frown. Laiba sighed and shook her head at him. Always so difficult, even when it was him who called for her, huh?
"It's been almost two years now." He started, but his deep carmine eyes didn't look at her.
"It has." Laiba agreed. "A lot had happened in that time, hasn't it?"
"Yeah." he breathed out. "Our kingdoms have been one shitty one and its clear that things are fucking good for nearly everyone who lives in our territory."
"Why do you bring this all up?" Laiba asked him, sending that something else was going on here and she wanted to know exactly what it was and why it was being brought up so suddenly.
"It's fucking clear neither of us wanted to be together in the first fucking place." He told her bluntly. "But, I think we're at a place now that so long as our kingdoms stay united and we both have a say in how things are run... then we don't have to be married any fucking longer."
She inhaled sharply and thought his words over. It was indeed true that she never wanted to marry this angry man, to begin with, and that even divorcing wouldn't cause much of a problem, so long as they both kept up the friendly relations and appeared to be a couple in front of everyone else. But they could get divorced in secret and she could be with whomever she wanted.
"You want to get rid of me that badly?" Laiba asked him, a gleam of mischief in her deep chocolate hues. "And here I thought I was being a wonderful wife and queen to the kingdom's first king since the union."
"Y-You fucking know that how you're acting right now has nothing to fucking do with this!!" Bakugou yelled back at her and then motioned between them. "This is fucking about a marriage forced upon us the neither of us fucking wanted!!"
"That may be true... but if I'm being honest, Katsuki- I no longer see the point in becoming separated."
"W-What?!"
"Think about it." Laiba sighed and held a hand to her cheek. "Our marriage was for show, to begin with, and I have a feeling even our parents knew that. But these last two years have proved to me that marrying you wasn't like I thought it would be. You don't force me to do anything I don't want and you seem to have grown to respect me in your own way too-"
"I sure as hell don't respect a moron like you!" Bakugiou called back and clicked his tongue. "But fine... I was thinking that same fucking thing. I just thought since we have all the power now, to undo the shitty marriage if you were still feeling trapped."
"I feel no such thing." Laiba smiled at him. "In fact, I rather like being your wife-by-title. Knowing I married someone who isn't trying to rule over me is nice and I doubt many men would be like you. So for the sake of my own freedom and will, I am choosing to remain in this relationship. Am I right in assuming you feel similar?"
He clicked his tongue and looked uninterested in the conversation, but Laiba knew by now that this was just what he did when he wanted another moment to think things through and not make it look like he was putting serious thought into it.
After a moment, Bakugou nodded slowly and then crossed his arms.
"Well if you feel that fucking sure, I guess we'll keep this shit intact for now. But I fucking swear... if I hear at any point in our lives that you never wanted to fucking stay with me, you are so getting fucking chewed out cause I gave you the choice to fucking leave, Laiba!!"
"Understood, your highness." Laiba smirked and then bowed to him in a teasing way. "I shall leave you to your work now. Don't be late for dinner, the chef is cooking a specialty of his tonight apparently and it would break his heart if his ruler wasn't there to at least try his meal."
She heard the sounds of light cursing coming from behind her as she walked out the door as quickly as she could. She giggled to herself, seeing that she had once more flustered her husband. It had become a fun game for her this last year.
He was grumpy and a bit rude, but he was loyal and never imposed himself on her. But did she truly want to stay in the marriage because of that? Or was there another reason that she refused to admit to herself and especially to him?
It was hard to say and she didn't think much of it. In fact, the most she would acknowledge publically was that she didn't hate the man. In fact, she might have slowly come to see him as something else.
As for what it was... she wouldn't say until she knew if it was mutual.
